Pretty crappy way to spend the study break in Europe. :(

I watched the Simpsons for the first time in probably 5 years tonight. The opening credit have changed a bit but they still keep the basic stuff from 20 years ago. That was nice to see.

I have about 65k Skyteam USA miles and will have about 90k by the end of Feb. I have done some random searches for cheap rewards and am not verry successful. Im thinking of cashing in these miles for Gift Cards @ 1 mile per cent to Macy's. This way I can surprise the wife with a $650 Gift Card for christmas so she can decorate our bedroom how she wants with out worrying about how much she is spending. Does this seam like a decent deal?

Not really, especially since I'm not sure how far $650 will go at Macy's for decorating.

Finding a great deal with DL redemptions isn't easy but you should be able to get more than $650 of value out of it. Of course, if you need to spend the money anyways on the decorating and you don't really have the cash then using the points isn't a terrible thing. Not the best value for the points but also probably not the worst.

If you can get up to 100k, you may be able to make it worth a bit more. As I mentioned earlier, I got a NYC-LON itin for Presidents Day at the 100k level. I was also able to find some stuff for late Dec. It's out there, just not in abundance.

Do you have EF? That might help things some. Using NW and DL calendars at this point is much like, "you know what into the wind." Moreover, while DL is notorious about the lack of award international premium space on its planes, it tends to make plenty of space available domestically (both coach and first class), and it also does not block partners. That 65-90K mileage seems perfect for Hawaii.

Fascinating thread in the main Forum on LK v. GB's legacy at CO. I thought the Box's own Steph3n was spot on. I personally think that LK had a really tough hand to play when he came on, and CO's "exceptionalism" came at a pretty high price which at some point became hard to justify as a "balance sheet matter". YMMV

I just wandered out and read that thread, almost responded too. Almost.

I did get a chuckle out of cigarman's post.

Thanks for the advise and Ill think about it more but I have a lot of miles in other accounts and another flight to a place I haven't been only means I will be spending even more money which is not a good thing now. We also found out we are going to be over our budget on accessories because the blinds are going to cost about twice what we thought they would. We had come to the agreement that we would wait a few months to buy new sheets, comforter, pillows, towels, etc. but if I got the 650 gc I'm pretty sure that would take care of most of it but more importantly surprise her allowing her to decorate ASAP (and me hearing less bit*hing about how we dont have it now)

I did manage to complete a surprising number of flash-cards whilst staying within a 15-foot radius of facilities. :-:

Get enough to redeem for J on KL. I'm now kicking myself for not having tried KL's long-haul premium product sooner. It was a steal at 80K CO miles. I'd rate their new product ahead of AF's J seat (even though the KL seat doesn't have a hard-shell - but I had a bulkhead, so it didn't matter). It is one of the comfiest angled-flats I've flown (along with SU and EK). Food and service were also excellent on both flights.

Why do you think I took them to your "end of more" party. Though beware the 77Ws are getting the AF shell seat.

**I can't believe I'm typing recommendations on buying blinds**

Check out blindschalet.com. We just bought blinds for our house on there. Seems decent.

Yes, they are outrageously expensive.

If I can find a SkyTeam program that doesn't outright suck for earnings on DL Q-UPs, I may ease my way back into familiar waters. SkyMiles and FlyingPoo are out. Aeromexico is out because I don't do kilometers. Korean Air's program is just weird. Maybe I can cobble something together through CSA, Aeroflot, or China Southern.
