I've subbed in one district so far, in its middle school. I don't know enough yet to know if I want to target that district for working there. Middle school doesn't hold as much interest for me because I like tougher college-prep-ish material. What you say about passion is undeniably true - that's how I got hooked. One of my history teachers in high school made it sound like so much more than what kids think it is (rote memorization of names and dates) and I want to teach in that style. It sounds cliche and trite but it's true for me: if I can affect just one kid's life (especially with the way society today is progressing) I'll feel like I got something out of it.

Thanks for saying that you think I could hack it in a middle school. :) I tend to disagree right now, as I subbed for a 6th grade last week and that one day made me not want to touch that level again.
