We finished late today so we just stayed inside and went to Cascade Seafood for dinner. It was quite good. Thanks to belynch or rolov (sorry forgot which one) for the recommendation. Sea bass was exceptionally good and I asked them to undercook it slightly. Came out perfect and delicious. Side of garlic vegetables was average but the herb rice was quite good too. I'm stuffed.

I still haven't figured out what I'm doing for Thanksgiving and Xmas, so a trip to Thailand may pop up or further work on my hemisheritis.

It will be late Spring in CPT then. You could knock out Africa and work on teh hemispheriphobia. :-:

Then, there are just some hotels that suck, and refuse to upgrade even when "Standard" suites are available. I try to avoid those.

Do you have a personal list of these hotels you could share with us?

I had such a poor experience with the St. Regis Houston that I will never return, under any circumstances (my displeasure with that hotel is well-documented in its thread).

I also found the Ws in San Francisco and San Diego to be stingy with upgrades.

That's about it for my naughty list. However, I would suggest checking the property-specific thread for any SPG property before booking. Take what you read with a grain of salt. Some of the people there will swear they could feel a pea under the mattress, and that it absolutely ruined their sense of self-entitlement.

Quite impressive. I'll hit about 240K BIS this year, and that will be about 60K more than I have ever done in a year before.

I had no idea what my BIS miles were this year, so I just checked. It's low — just over 78,000 before tomorrow's flights. But I've got another 56,000 minimum left to fly this year, so I'll make up a lot of that.

If I can get on the lucrative JNB-GRU or JNB-CPT, i'd be all over it.

Congrats!

Has anyone heard not being able to redeem awards on Compass? I have a EWR-DTW-AMS itinerary in Dec and a later flight has availability but it's Compass operated and the Elite desk said that you can't redeem onto Compass flights.
