Wow, surprised you didn't manage to blow a breaker or set something on fire with all that.

I'm down to only carrying two 6" USB charging cables — one with a USB micro end, the other USB mini (work BlackBerry uses mini as do a couple of other things I haul around, personal BlackBerry uses micro) — and a very compact, folding prong USB/AC adapter that has two USB ports on it. I got sick of all the cables I used to haul around and the mess it made in my bag.

Nice! ^

Should this become a common practice for a SPG Plat? I was under the impression that most upgrades were automatically given a few days before arriving at the hotel. Are there many cases where it is necessary to ask when checking in?

I was delinquent in checking teh Box for a few days there. Was busy making sure Czech Beer would meet the quality standards required for next year's  DO.

Hope you had as much fun as I did. It took me forever to get back to El Paso the day I drove around the desert, as I found myself pulling over every mile or so to take a picture of something new.

Most upgrades are processed either the morning before arrival, or the morning of arrival, depending on the property. If I haven't seen any evidence of an upgrade prior to arrival, and no mention is made by the check-in clerk when I give my name, I politely ask if any suites are available.

This is the first time I've asked, and the first time I've been given a larger suite. Usually it's a one class upgrade to a nicer room, on a club floor (at Sheraton or Westin). Had I not asked I would have been given the room I reserved tonight, because it was only when I asked that the lady checking me in looked to see what upgrades might be available.
