Was hoping for 87K. Got sidetracked by the article belynch posted. I think it was time well spent.

Oh look 87K :-:

You did, which is why I didn't chronicle a full trip report.

But if I was compiling a list of worst domestic terminals for major cities in the US, JFK is at the top followed by LGA central, followed by EWR A/B (same city -- coincidence? I think not!).

Agreed. It is sad but it is also very moving. I wasn't expecting to see the picture first thing (and it pretty much fills the screen on a netbook) so that caught me off-guard and I'm not really sure I can handle the images of the event still to this day. But I have my own vivid memories of it burned into my brain (I was in DC that day so somewhat fortunate but also not so much). I actually took a couple pictures that day in Georgetown and I'm probably happy I cannot find them now. I do still have the pint glass I took from Mr. Smith's, where we had lunch around 11am and where I drank several beers to calm my nerves.

Thanks. That thread is pretty entertaining, or at least it was last night when I last checked it.

I agree, I enjoyed reading it, but it's still tough. They had a nice tribute to the Flight 93 family members before the game last night.

Morning box on a somber 9-11.

Today's suggested reading.

This is an excellent piece. The photograph is very distressing because of what it depicts - loss of hope? sadness? bravery? who knows? we will all put our own interpretation on that photograph. All I know is that my heart aches for those people who were trapped in the WTC and faced their fate in the sure knowledge that there was nothing they could do to change events.

Such a sad, sad day for the world.

Yea, that's funny, but I'm too lazy to look up the ID's to see who they are.

There is a button just to the right of the F12 Key on your keyboard that should read "Print Screen." Any time you press that, it will copy an exact screen shot of what is on your monitor. You can then open up a program like Windows Paint, as cheepneezy suggested, and press the "Ctrl" and "v" keys together. What you just copied will paste itself into that program. Then you can manipulate the image and save it.

Super! Thanks! You know, I learn so much from the box ... :D

Definitely time well spent. The article is a sobering reminder of the tragedy that we experienced, and I think helps remind us that we should never take anything for granted.

Big thumbs up to the EMS guys here in the box, along with the other emergency service personnel, doctors, nurses, volunteers and damn good citizens that we count as box denizens.
