She's been to way more places in this would than me so that's always a conversation piece.

I'll be in the city all week next week so i'm game.

ALCO I'm considering a status match to Air Astana Gold after your creative use of your Air Astana card in DC. :D

I was unimpressed with Vietnam. Sure, it is cheap, but the locals harass the tourists to no end in an effort to sell us crap. All the time. I was annoyed. There are some diamonds in the rough there, but overall I was not a fan.

Is it still a popular destination for Chinese? In '94, as a guest of ICBC, two of my 'hosts' (handler/intelligence guys) had both just independently been on holiday in Vietnam with their families. I wondered then, and continued to do so, what the attraction was for them.

Does anyone know Steve Gadfly's "trick" for booking from PHL 30th St. Station, but getting on the train in MetroPark, NJ?

I want to book a flight to SAT, but if I go from EWR on the 7:10pm direct flight, it will cost me $877. If I go from 30th st. station, connecting in EWR to the 7:10pm flight it will be $139. Go figure! Same darn flight.

I remember Steve said there is a way to book the fare from ZFV, but board the train in Metropark, but you have to do something odd with the check-in. We discussed it at the Shogun dinner and now I've completely forgotten what he told me.

Is SteveGadfly on vacation this week or is he working?

Well, buying a stake can mean lots of things. For example, CA hold a significantly minority stake in CX, but they're in separate alliances. And you can say CA, MU and CZ have basically one majority owner - the Beijing government.

And SQ owns 49% of VA, yet VA is run independently.

Um, congratulations, I think. Make sure the envelope doesn't smell like Nigeria.

There is now a pretty sizeable difference between using CO miles to fly business to Europe (105K) and US miles (80K). Wonder if it makes sense to credit to US and get the US credit card -- especially if one's status/route pattern doesn't yield upgrades.

There is a significant difference between the biz-class products on the two carriers, and a significant difference in the agita factor of those miles being worth something at some point in the future.

Transcript review = must take three classes. Now to find them.

I think he's on the road this week, but several of us have his cell number. I doubt he'd be perturbed.

Do you think that there will be another PWP thread next month?

Hi CM. Yes, I have his cell number, but I don't want to intrude on his vacation by calling or texting! Don't mind intruding on work, but intruding on pleasure time is another matter indeed! :D

I sent him a PM, so if he happens to check FT, he will see it and I don't feel so bad about that.

Why would that matter, when you could redeem the reward on any of the Star carriers?

Good points. From what I've read so far it seems like DL wants a stake but also wants some control. I guess we'll have to see how it plays out before we know what it means for the customers.
