I'd think that DL is trying to exploit and feed the NRT hub, not give it up.
The fact is that if the Japanese want their carriers to remain competitive, they need to shut down NRT and expand HND instead. I believe NRT is one of the worst thing the Japanese has done since bombing Pearl Harbor. It has been shown again and again having one international and one domestic airport is a disaster. Montreal and Glasgow saw that and reversed course. But the Japanese then built KIX, another white elephant as long as ITM remains. CA and CZ are thriving at PEK and CAN respectively, while MU is a distant third at PVG/SHA even through Shanghai is the largest and most prosperous city in China. I picked up a printed ANA timetable while in Japan. For NH, NRT is "Narita". It is not even listed under "Tokyo". They fly one CRJ and one 320 flight to CTS a day, compared to 25 mostly widebodies from HND. Their international and domestic operations are basically two separate airlines - huge waste in resources. |

True, T4 is nice, though the lounge is outside of security so that's a big fat :td:
Once you're at JFK it's not so bad unless you're in T2/T3, but getting to JFK and getting out of JFK be it my car, train or air all sucks. |

And the train ride there really isn't that bad - better than EWR in many ways - though with the E train out of service this weekend I'll have to schlep up to NYP to catch my train rather than from my corner. |

I may have been present or playing wingman at some point during this fiasco. That being said, it was hysterical. Probably not quite as valuable as using the SPG card to cut to the front of the line for the bar, but still pretty awesome.
Also note that my recollection of the events is somewhat tainted by the haze of much beer. |

I don't want DMQM - I want to be a happy Plat who starts 2010 with almost enough MQMs to be Gold in 2011.

I beg to differ w/r/t T7. I find it a bit claustrophobic with the low ceilings. The checkin area is nice, though.

I have a feeling that the introduction of Diamond is going to prevent DL from offering DEQMs. Making it so easy for people to reach their new top tier would cheapen it a bit, IMO. Kind of like what CO has done with Platinum...

I actually really like T7. I like the fact you can get from curb to gate in 15 minutes and gate to curb in five. The ceilings the FCL aren't too low. :D
