So I sent in my passport for renewal. Does it really take 4-6 weeks?

Regretting right now as I want to take up one of the discounted C fares on UA to BRU at the start of the New Year.

I believe that you can call in and have them expedite it for the usual fee. That will speed it up significantly.

What are the fares?

It's nothing spectacular. IAD-BRU for $1900. I need to be in DC for work but have nothing to do the weekend of New Years so wanted to start off the year with a MR.

I don't have any January flights booked yet ... February has two sets of flights, though.

Clear, just like water. No color, no calories, no upgrades, no breakfast....you get the idea :D.

Hilton is devaluing their points but I've been happy with them each time I've stayed abroad. Hyatt has been very good to me as well in the limited number of times I've used them, more recently in AKL.

I've booked four LAX-IAD $220ai flights for Jan and Feb to either just use for work or as positioning for other flights if good fares pop up.

That's scary and cool at the same time.

Ask for a sup. The downgrade compensation is common knowledge, at least it should be.

If memory serves me correct, you're entitled to a voucher for x (based on what sfogate said is $200 or $250) and a difference in fare.

If all else fails, get names and call WE-CARE. After last year's issues of them not following policy, they all received a nice memo refreshing what to do in the case of a downgrade.

:D

There were some fair points made, though. There is a reason I don't stay at Sheraton Suites, as they are about as standardized as Hilton Garden Inns (no differentiation between rooms), and usually with tackier furniture. Also, dunno why the fullness of an airport hotel parking lot would be any indication of its occupancy level. In fact, if checking the same hotel's website earlier in the day only yielded club rooms, odds are they didn't have any standard suites available (airport properties also tend to have fewer suites).

Just like any program, you gotta learn the system to make SPG Plat work to its highest potential. I've learned to play it nearly as well as BD, much to my benefit. :-:
