Easy enough habit to break - think about a self-defense scenario and a quick lesson from the speed shooters you see with a pistol. Pull from the holster and bring gun up far enough (but close to body) to get the back sight in range. Use the curvature of the grip (13 degrees for a reason) to help you sight while pushing out the weapon toward the target from your stance. Can dry-fire to work on trigger control - after a trigger pull, one should still be on target. Yes, I do practice this drill (in slow motion, no less).
Most of my live-fire practice is putting two shots on target from the holster. I don't care that I can put all shots on center mass at a leisurely pace. I care that I can do so in an emergency.
