Spoke to my father today; he is about an hour northwest of MCO and is expecting winter tornadoes.

Yep. Houston is getting socked by rain and wind right now. IIRC, we're just getting some nastiness from an upper-level low that's unconnected to the surface low in the Gulf. The people along the Eastern Gulf Coast are going to take a real pounding tonight and tomorrow. Wouldn't want to be in North Florida tomorrow. Looks like it'll be tornado alley.

Hope you manage to make it home soon.

sfobag, big thanks for the book recommendation. I'm reading Gideon's Spies and to call it riveting is an understatement. ^^^

Staples really pi55ed me off this weekend. They had the $25 off a purchase of $25 in Sharpie products listed on their home page, along with a cheap micro SD card. I needed about $300 in labels for work anyway, so I tried to buy the labels, SD card and ~$26 in Sharpies. Staples.com kept telling me the coupon was expired (even though the homepage link said "valid through 11/30"). I tried again yesterday morning and got the same result so I emailed them. They replied "I sincerely apologize, but due to the popularity of the offer, the $25 off $25 worth of Sharpie markers offer is sold out and no longer valid." Guess I'll order from Office Max whenever I need stuff in the future, as I did today

I got the same results withe the sharpies deal. I may do the SD card but probably not. I have a 10 off 20 or more for sunday evening!!

I found it quite interesting.

You should also enjoy the one about the Israel raid on Iran's nuclear reactor facility.

Listening to ATC.net and they are using the 26s for landings and 15L for takeoffs.

This is why.

Many of the weather geeks over on wunderground seem to think that El Nino will result in many of this winter's storms forming over the Northern Gulf of Mexico, which is anomalous from what normal winters bring. Such storms are often an essential component to creating superstorm noreasters, like the 1993 Storm of The Century. Could be an interesting winter. :-:

Teh weathergeeks also say that sfobag may be in for some  in about a week's time. Apparently, the remnants of Supertyphoon Nida (one of the strongest ever recorded) are expected to have a big impact on the jetstream over the Pacific, resulting in a really ugly Pacific-Coast storm in a week or so.

I hear ya! Have you tried any of those drain unclogging liquids -- ''professional strength'?

I know that some of the Liquid Plumr products had a "Free After Rebate" label. And here's the link to the form.

I was. :-:

My fortune cookie at the Chinese buffet today was especially accurate:

Today I flew home, and although it's not a fortune, my good review means a better year-end incentive bonus. ^
