Just was reading about UA's plans to ground 100 aircraft and trim staff - all I can say is that it is about time. They should have been doing this at least a year ago and I cannot believe it has taken them so long to cut their oversized capacity and out of control costs.

One could say the exact same thing about General Motors and Trucks/SUV's.

Will any one be in AC this weekend? (CMike?) I am coming down for the Clint Black concert at the Tropicana and have an extra ticket as my buddy bailed on me yesterday.

Speaking of Sushi. When the LAS DO is announced and we can find enough sushi fans coming I know a great place called Sushi Mon that is $25 all you can eat (except fatty tuna and sweet shrimp). Here is the link to the website www.sushi-mon.com.

Just tried website, it is currently down.

Anyone ever make it up to YVR for sushi? There is a place up there called Tojo's that is phenomenal. I went with my wife (girlfriend at the time) in 2003 and then again in 2007 on my own and both times the meal was PHENOMENAL. He's actually written up in 1000 things to do before you die as some of the best sushi in the world and I have to say that both meals were incredible. It is most certainly not cheap - when they asked me if I wanted to keep going with more rolls I could feel my bank account groaning at the thought - but it was absolutely delicious. At least one of the two visits was on work travel.

Yes, except GM and Ford should have taken action at least 15 years ago.

They haven't (that I have seen). Thus far no one seems to be matching the AA fee for first checked bag.

I'm glad to see that Tom got you tickets, but I'm not available. Thanks for asking. :D^ I'm in NYC Friday during the day (no stay, driving both ways) and have a 6:15am tee time Saturday, so nightlife isn't an option this weekend. Best advice would be to call Tom and let him know that you're solo if you do end up that way, and maybe then he won't ding your comps for two tix.

I remember reading that post and thinking that I needed to get back to YVR because I've only been once and it wasn't long enough. Not only for Tojo's, but also for Granville Island brewery. Right around the corner from the brewery was a glassblowing place which I think has since closed that sold the coolest shirt I have ever seen. It was a stick figure with flames coming off his body...caption below: "Do Not Set Yourself on Fire".

I'd like to try, but need to wait until Canucks' season comes back...
