Our club is far from stuffy (and certainly doesn't exclude people). And they have a great wine club, which is my main activity there :)

I grew up watching my grandparents at their private clubs, and they to my knowledge did not have a reciprocal deal anywhere, at either the NJ club or FL club they were members of. I've seen semi-privates locally that have reciprocity. Never say never I guess; corrected I stand. :o

Argh! If I get sent away to prison in Texas for choking the client's DBA to death today, well, it was nice knowing y'all. Keep up the flying for me.

I think I should just go to lunch before I yell and say something I later regret here at the office.

I'll come visit - let me know where you end up ;)

We pay an insanely cheap amount - somewhere between $5 and $20 per month for the partnership program. Since we travel, it makes great sense for us. I think because so many clubs are now "managed" by a golf group, these programs have come into effect. It makes a great selling point (did for us). There is a club not far from us that had an amazing reciprocal deal, but their initiation fee was around $50k - sorry, no club is it worth that to us! Our club is fine; the courses are constantly being upgraded and they serve good food. The funniest thing about it is when we drive by it (which is everyday to/from school) BL JR says it's the President's Club - not sure why, but I guess we just call it the club like we do the P Club :D

Great idea! I have key chain flasks; so enough of those and we could have a real party!

Sounds like it's time for another EWR-SIN run to hammer home the point behind accumulating miles. :D

Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, someone down the hall turns on the Top Gun soundtrack...

I was good. I bit my tongue and went to lunch. So far the DBA is still alive and breathing and I still have a job.

Of course this meant ending up behind a couple of women in line at the La Madeleine across the street who took a good 10 minutes to order a freaking chicken sandwich… and then got up to the cashier and argued and whined about their no personal check policy. Included in that discussion was the woman with the check whining "But I've already filled it out with everything except the amount, and I'll have to waste it, and checks are sooooo expensive!" She said this while the massive rock on her left ring finger clanked against her other jewelry, and with her keys to her Bentley lying on her tray. I don't think wasting a check is going to break her bank account.

One thing I've noticed when working at this client is that restaurants in Plano do a very substantial portion of their lunch business with "ladies who lunch." And they are a very frightening, out of touch with the rest of the world, group of people.

Anyway, both the DBA and the can't figure out how to order a chicken sandwich and pay with a credit card or cash lady are still among the living. But my patience has been put to the test today on so many levels.

It can get worse: there's an extended edition which IIRC was released for the 20th anniversary of the movie.

So far there's no need to plan such a Do.

You should book another flight down there, for good measure. Or, perhaps PTY-LIM on CM to link it up to the LIM run. :D

Who in their right mind tries to buy lunch with a check?
