Planespotting Adventure #1 at PHL is complete, and my favorite shots are up:

Regrettably, my two favorite shots are of US birds...

I haven't seen a 310 in years. I think most 300's are now freighters. And all the -600 version.

JL still have many domestic routes in Japan with AB6... and they won't retire until 787-3 delivery... for 4-5 more years.

Very nice shots. That moire pattern from the fence is a bit annoying, but what are you gonna do...

And don't forget to share with the folks in the Travel Photography forum; I'm sure they'd enjoy the pix as well.

Thanks for sharing your shots, Mike. +1 on the US A330. That's one bird I'd like to shoot myself.

Be careful where you repeat that one!

My interview is over, so it's off to the beach I go before my flight back to EWR. Have fun at work suckers! :p :D

That's exactly what I said about the fence...not really much you can do, unless you get yourself above it. But I'm in no hurry to lug a stepladder out there...if I had a truck, maybe. I'll post the link in TP later today, I gotta run out now.

Thanks to all for reassuring the first-timer.

Re: shoot, yeah I know. Photograph the plane, of course I meant. :D

It is possible to shoot through the holes in a chainlink fence. You have to put your lens right up on it.

As a hunter myself, I have often said that very line, though I am sure we did not mean the same thing ;)

So I am doing the ATL-POS run next weekend. Are there any cheap, clean, hotels near the airport or should I plan to party like a rockstar in the airport all night long?

Suggestions for 1 night in POS?

You're on - which pclub :D

Yes, you can shoot through the fence, if you use a large enough aperture. Here's one at CAE I took of our CRJ. Through a fence with f1.8.

sorry to cut in with the plane hunting/spotting/shooting :p

Just found out I'm going to Viet Nam on Sat (not sure where in Viet Nam) and yes, I know there is a Viet Nam board but since y'all are having so much fun - any suggestions on best/cheapest full eqms (mm status at stake and all) at the front of the bus. I'm guessing I'm going to end up flying EVA; though KE may be an option. I haven't even started looking - I figured I may want to find out where I'm going first. I have to be in LA by next Sat and I'm going to miss the Cure Mon night :( I am 0 for 3 for 80s bands (all great seats of course). Thanks

I think $80 of my stimulus check is gonna go to the 50mm/1.8 - I can't justify 40D despite the sale, only because of AMEX and an engagement ring. If I didn't have those two, I'd have bought the f-ing thing already.

BR only earns 125% EQM in J to TPE, and no EQM from TPE onwards.

KE does earn 150% EQM in J.

Or fly CO to HKG, and then connect, though CO99 arrives HKG late, so you probably have to overnight there.

Or go the other way and fly AF.
