I'm ready for the beach. PBI this weekend :D

Am thinking of S. Padre Island or CRP for the end of the month.

The common denominator, SAV, seems to be your problem. I check flights down there often, as that's where my family is, and I've noticed that they're attempting to sell fares at "premium" levels with only mixed results. It even showed up on the e-savers (or whatever CO calls 'em) last weekend from EWR.

They're still pushing only fare code Y during the Thanksgiving time-period in the EWR-SAV route, yet many flights have yet to see a booked pax, as of my last checking. Seems to me those fares will be coming down...

In other news, the seat map for my B/F 777 shows the cabin as full, but they'll sell me a seat. I know they don't overbook the pointy end - what's up with this? A rogue seatmap?

Regarding the J cabin on CO, I really could care less about the food (although I will be eating it), and I rarely drink when traveling for work. I just want to sleep on the way over, because as soon as I land I go into meetings. I'm only fixin to be overseas for about 36 hours on this trip.

I'm polishing off the studies for a certificate in Golf Travel (I get to put LS after my name for "Lifestyle Specialist" - insert joke here) and some of the properties around SAV are gorgeous, but I know how bad the fares can be and it makes me not want to put the effort into writing the trip planning because of the fares.

I saw that late last night and thought that certainly it was a joke or that they just hadn't been released/loaded yet. Now I see that it is actually true. :(

Not that I would've been able to go anywhere, but the wanderlust side of me certainly likes to dream about it...

On CO 767's and 777's, the bulkhead BF rows always are blocked in the seatmap until 24 hour before departure, when some (but not all) of the seats are released. If you want, you can call and try to have a seat assigned.

I was down there for work a a few months ago , very nice .
I had to go to Port Royal SC, and fares to SAV where off the charts.

There are seats that are blocked, like some of Row 1 and 8; and 10DEKL don't even show up on the maps until a few days before flight. And if you get a AVOD plane, there are also 6DE, which also only shows a few days before flight.

But you should call now to see if they can assign you one of the blocke seats in Row 1 or 8.

I looked at flying into ATL and driving (since it would just be one way - we're going to ATL anyway to see family so would have to make the drive on the way back) and it saved $90 pp. My husband said it wasn't worth it to him so we stuck with SAV (to be fair, he's got a red eye from LAX with his daughter so I wouldn't want the drive from ATL either even if he and I split the drive). I ended up doing reward tix for my parents out of LNK instead of OMA (closer) because the flight times were lousy; connection times were lousy; and it actually seemed a good use of miles for once. I booked my husband IAH-LAX-SAV-LAX-IAH for around $1500 in coach; which is what I booked him in R or A (can't remember) last year same route. Sigh.

Fixed it for you. I have read where some legislators have never read a bill they introduced. They just accepted it from some lobbyist and introduced it to a committee. Call me an independent libertarian. I want states to have more power than they do now. The federal government is too bloated, especially after it grew under a Republican controlled congress and administration (for 6 years) that is supposedly for less government.

No way I'm paying $400 to get the Significant Otter from MSY to HRL (S. Padre Island). Over $300 to get to CRP, both on CO and WN .

As for ticket prices, I need to go to LA this month - $400. My parents need to go to Boston - $400. It's like $400 anywhere one wants to go from Houston. No more $200 fares, no more $250 fares.

I am attempting to book PHL-IAH, and the R/T fare is $442 when I need to go. I had been seeing $200-$250 fares 21 days in advance. US beats that price. WN beats it, but only with their flight that makes 3 stops!

ConciergeMike Jun 3, 2008 9:29 am

The fact that US beats any price is scary. I was seeing some PHL-West Coast for 288 not too long ago.

Anglo Large Clawed Otter Jun 3, 2008 9:30 am

I fear this will be a long dry-spell of a summer travel season. :(

Are you coming to the PHL side of the river for plane spotting? I can meet you and spot some planes, until I have to be at work at 330p. O/W PHL-IAH on a flight I was looking at was $169. CO was $213. I chose CO, because the chance for an upgrade is better. Oh yeah, US doesn't even have F on that route.
