No, IMO.

Here are the rest of the facts:

One-Way on CO LGA-IAH for the date I need is $585.50 (H Fare)

Total for JFK-MIA(AA AB6 in F)-IAH(CO in Y) is $780.

For a $200 price difference, I get to try an AB6 for the first time (in F, no less) and spend an evening in Miami.

What or where is AB6?

Ahh yes. The reason why residents of Queens carry steel umbrellas around with them.

I would do the AB6 trip. Not that many "classic" Airbuses - A300/310 - left in pax service.

I would hope that the AA birds are in better shape than the Decrepit Air India and Thai Air A300s I spotted in HKG and BKK last week. The opportunities for riding on one of those birds are diminishing, especially now that AA is considering retiring a bunch of theirs by the end of the year.

I also need to catch a ride on an A310. Hope OK holds on to theirs for a while.

Eww... isn't that the place in that nasty run down hotel on Ponce de Leon? One of our friends was telling us about a stripper there that crushes beer cans with her bosom.

I took a flight on an LH A300 in 2004 FRA-PRG and 2006 FRA-TXL R/T. The interior looked dated! :td: The seats were in mediocre shape.

In the future try CHS, HHH (unbelievably, sometimes it's cheaper, and DL now flies in there), and BQK. All closer than ATL for driving.

Thanks for the tips on why the seatmap isn't accurately reflecting available seats in the pointy end. ;)

I actually did check those - I was trying to avoid Delta :) HHH was more (and ultimately where we're going after 2 nights in SAV); but BQK was less. Didn't consider CHS - thanks for that (it wasn't that much less, but good thought!).

That's the place. The beer can thing is pretty cool.

Have you seen her do it?

Our realtor friend keeps saying he wants to take us out there one night. But only after we all get a good buzz before going. He swears you have to be drunk, or at least partly there, before you can set foot in the place.

I'd do the AB6 too. In fact, I'm considering how I might be able to get on one before the end of the year myself.

Keep hoping. Miracles, I suppose, can happen.

baglady, HHH is almost equidistant between SAV and CHS as far as airports go.

Well, I'll qualify that statement by saying not in miles driven but in time it takes if you know the right back roads between Chuck-town and the Head. Also, if you're going the rental car route make sure you get one with a SC tag. Troopers tend to turn a blind eye if they think you're local. ;)

Hmmm... back to the AB6. In September the BF and I are planning on me joining him in NYC for the weekend, since he'll be up there the week before for work. I'm scheduled to work from home that week, so that Friday I have to get from ATL to NYC on my own. Looks like flying ATL-MIA-JFK on a combination of DL (for the CO EQMs/RDMs) and AA (for the AB6) is pricing at only $246.92 in Y, which isn't bad. Now to check the prices on fares that would get me up front.
