I'm scheduled to work from home that week, so that Friday I have to get from ATL to NYC on my own. Looks like flying ATL-MIA-JFK on a combination of DL (for the CO EQMs/RDMs) and AA (for the AB6) is pricing at only $246.92 in Y, which isn't bad. Now to check the prices on fares that would get me up front.

Any timeframe beyond "end of the year" for retirement of the AA AB6? I'm considering doing a JFK-ORD/DFW-IAH with AA that will earn more BA TPs, then hopping a flight to SJU on an AB6 for Thanksgiving (assuming they are still around by then).

baglady, HHH is almost equidistant between SAV and CHS as far as airports go.

Well, I'll qualify that statement by saying not in miles driven but in time it takes if you know the right back roads between Chuck-town and the Head. Also, if you're going the rental car route make sure you get one with a SC tag. Troopers tend to turn a blind eye if they think you're local. ;)

I used to live in HHH so I know the back roads pretty well :) You are correct - Charleston if further; but timewise no further. I don't know, the only ticket in my adult life was in SC as a SC resident!!!

Here are the rest of the facts:

One-Way on CO LGA-IAH for the date I need is $585.50 (H Fare)

Total for JFK-MIA(AA AB6 in F)-IAH(CO in Y) is $780.

For a $200 price difference, I get to try an AB6 for the first time (in F, no less) and spend an evening in Miami.

If you really want to fly the AB6 and that is the only viable option (as opposed to flying an AB6 on a foreign carrier), then I guess it would be worth it. At that price, though, you could just do a part cash, part miles award over to Asia and fly one on a short hop, still saving some cash. I do not think AA's AB6's are in that great a shape, anyway.

Then again, I have been there, done that w/r/t 300's and 310's and don't care if I ever set foot on one again before they are retired (though I would not mind another 310 ride).

I haven't read anything definite, except that "some" of the AB6s are being retired late this year. I don't know that it means "all". So how bad is Y on AA's AB6 supposed to be? Based on what I see on Seat Guru, it doesn't look like the pitch is any worse than CO's Y, and the seat is almost 18" wide.

Ah ha! @:-)

I'm a graduate of HHHS. Used to live in PD. And I have almost daily cravings for Harold's Diner. :o

Regarding the ticket ... must have been the off-season.

I went there a time or two!!! I loved San Miguel's though after living in TX, their Mexican doesn't taste so good to me. I had a friend who managed there on the weekends and didn't have a hostess one night so I subbed in - never had worked in a restaurant but I had a lot of fun. I think I spent what I made that night on the margaritas though;)

I started going to HH in 85!!! Things have changed a bit. I lived there in late 80s; early 90s. We stay at Marriott Vacation Club (Ocean Club) and don't go out all that much - hit Charlie Crab one night.

Just received the co.com email specials for this weekend. There's actually a decent amount out of EWR.

Including SAV. ;)

This darn million mile/lifetime elite status has me considering not buying the cheapest fare on some upcoming trips, so that I can get more EQMs. Darn CO for coming up with something that makes me want to spend even more money on travel!

I am thinking about picking up that 2k J fare to DEL. I would have to eat ramen to afford it, but it is very tempting.

Where is this?

On CO?

Haha. If I can find the $$$$. Buying a condo, renovating it, moving across the country, and buying out an apartment lease two months early is an expensive proposition. You know how many J/C mistake fares to far off places I could have bought for that same money? Not that this move hasn't been worth it, but the budget is stretched these days. Plus now I've got to convince someone else that it's worth blowing some money to spend a weekend flying around in F. He still rolls his eyes if I mention that weekend this past February where I spent less than 12 hours in MSY after flying there via SLC and ATL.

Well, prices aren't stellar at the moment. However, I haven't been to BOI (or BUR, for that matter), and perhaps there will be some tastier fares as fall approaches. Fall colors in the mountains of Idaho sounds pretty nice.

Ummm. CO is apparently serving lamb with their ravioli now?? Has anyone had this? I'm getting it just for the pasta so we will see what it looks like. I'm scared.

I assume you're flying BusinessFirst, not domestic first?
