Yikes! XJT is at $0.87 right now.

Sadly, CAL is now below my purchase price of $12.25. Guess I shoulda sold when it hit $54... I thought it would go higher. Oh well...

Another quiet week at the client. Looks like I will be able to head home early this week, which will be nice.

Any of you Houston Box posters up for a dinner/beer Micro-Do this Thursday night? I'm going to be in Houston and am looking for stuff to do!

Any suggestions on a Vegas hotel for a first time visitor mostly interested in just checking out the more extravagant places the strip has to offer?

I'm leaning towards the Venetian right now but am also considering the Bellagio, Wynn or the new Palazzo (although, I hear parts of it are still under construction). Does anyone know much about the new Trump International? I can't stomach the thought of supporting that man's business ventures but I might consider it if the hotel comes highly recommended.

We love Bellagio (but have never stayed there). Our last trip we stayed at Paris, the BF sweet-talked the front desk and we ended up with a suite that overlooked Bellagio. It wasn't half bad ;) Either is a great mid-strip location.

I have some CO shares purchased very soon after 9/11. They're still showing a profit... but not nearly as nice as the late 2006/early 2007 period.

I'll take that action. ;)

You're on! The tricky part is trying to find someone with the patience/intelligence to deal with it which, if history is any guide, isn't easy. I usually invade HPN with this type of stuff (and occupy one of the two ticket counter agents for a solid 45 min.) but I'll be at LGA anyway...

I'm at IAH between 540p and 645p on Thurs. if anyone is around (also there today from 4 - 6). Ping me at my FT handle @ google's email.

I had it on the calendar, so I might be able to attend if others are interested.

Yes.

I picked up CAL at 13.28, so I am losing. I still think they are undervalued though. I may buy some more to average out my buy price.

I'm not a fan of the Bellagio. I found the rooms/hotel portion to be rather tired. We had a room with a view of the water show, and that was fun, but no AmEx FHR upgrades. The pool area was pretty nice, and we enjoyed the Ansel Adams exhibit in the art gallery (I'm still kicking myself for not seeing the Alexander Calder exhibit when it was there 4 years prior). But the rooms were blah IMO. I liked the Venetian better for the rooms, though it is further down the strip, which is either good or bad.

I've had the same experience. And I don't think that the smart ones are sticking around these days, especially at US.

Let me know how it goes for you; I'll be happy to pay up in drinks at the PC. :p

Yes, they are all over Dubai, as well. The first people I saw at the beach at my hotel a few years back were extremely overweight Chavs basting in the sun, bikinis, speedo's, and all.

I can't wait to hit the beach at Aktau in a Borat Mankini for Labor Day 2009. Those poor Kazakhs won't know what hit them. Will someone please bring some spare bail money? :D
