Bored, flipping through the channels this morning here in Houston. Stumbled upon Houston Airports System own newscast. I guess they buy time to air their "news." Saw it on channel 55 at 9am-9:30. I know this is going to sound bad, but more than a couple of their "reporters" sound like they arrived in this country in the last couple of years. Although, the production value looked good, the voice-overs from those same "reporters" sounded like propaganda spoken by a recent high school grad who just came to this country. The show seemed out of date as they were previewing RodeoHouston.

Okay, back to golf. I sent Mr. BL to golf school at the Faldo Institute - gave him his choice - he chose Palm Desert. So I now have a DVD with Nick and Mr BL side by side.
I've paid several scrambles and always played fair - but they were always for charity - how else to play? I also realized you only were refering to guys for your penalty box scramble but let me say on one scramble my drive was used 16 out of 18 drives and I was the only lady playing (and had the highest handicap) - I just happen to be lazy and like to hit straight and in the fairway as opposed to the trees. :p I have never been so bored as to watch the airport show though have seen it on the channels when looking - it just looks so strange. My visa photos for Viet Nam look worse than any mug shots do - I hate that you have to look serious in these. What's the point when I typically smile at the immigration officer? edited to add - I've never had a mug shot taken |

I think Houston Airports Today is produced in partnership with one of the local community colleges, which is part of what accounts for the quality of the on-screen talent.

Also, Houston Airports Today does its first runs on one of the local government access stations, so it's not like the Houston Airport System is paying a fortune to get it on the air. I think Channel 55 (The Tube) picks up the reruns of it at odd hours, so again, it's a pretty low budget deal.

I'm not spectacular - my handicap card says 29, I think. I can get around in 100-115...and I'm horrid off the tee.
You're welcome to join rolov and I, assuming he's in for either day. Either works for me. If either or both of you want to, we can do dinner after and I can find someplace should anyone's hotel statuses need topping off. Come ot think of it, Thursday works better for me because I don't have to be in until 12:30 Friday. For the higher handicapper like S and me, I would use my concierge's magical powers to recommend Blue Heron Pines. Any NY/NJ Box Denizens wanna be the 4th? Bonus ETA: Blue Heron is under the primary ACY approach. A319's and F-16's for most of the day. and please include me in the higher handicappers group Im no tiger woods. :D |
BAM, you're on the ULH EWR-SIN sitting next to Namoi Campbell. What do you do?

Anyone from the NYC contingent head out to the Mermaid Parade this year (or any other years)?? Great day to be out on the Coney Island boardwalk and a great scene out there for the parade. Plus I managed to spot a few arrivals into JFK, including the EK flight around 2:30pm. |

I can do either...I thought about it and Wednesday would be better if there was a post-round dinner/drinks since I could stay out later given Thursday off. I'm also open to either. sdm1130 and sbm12, your stance on the topic sirs?
If we had a specific week in mind I could say yes or no pretty easily, with odds on a yes. |

My availability really depends on the week and what is going on at work. Unfortunately, the rest of June and most of July are going to be pretty busy for me. I'd definitely be interested in a future gathering though. |

Politely arrange with the FAs to provide a bit extra in her drink. Ambien is preferred but Xanax is also acceptable. Worst case scenario, find a way to pad/protect myself. On the plus side, very small chances of her having a phone to hit me with, so that should help.

It is a strange combination of kids, adults and adults behaving like kids (most are in this category :)) in a "parade" that seems to be a cross between the Village Halloween Parade, Key West Fantasy Fest and a normal day on the Coney Island boardwalk. Really a great time. Some pix from the event here. |
Does anyone have an idea how late the trains run at SEATAC? I thought they stopped at midnight. I just got a call from CO that my flight to SEA is an hour late which puts me in after midnight. I need to go from B to the South and hope the train is running. No first availability on the earlier flight (and only middle seats so I'm not downgrading myself on a full Y). Any help appreciated! I did a search and was on SEATACs sight; even called them but found nothing.

Oh, a question for the photo geeks among us....it sounds so dumb that I can't believe I'm asking, but here goes: if an IS lens is still attached to a body that is turned off and the IS switch is left on, will that draw from the batteries even if the camera is off? I could swear I put two full batteries back in my XT's grip last week, and today I turn it on to see the battery indicator halfway down.
