My problem is their summer attire. I do not want to see employees, whether they look good or not, in short shorts. Their uniform is just not professional at all.

I flew Sprit ATL-LAS. "Never again," I said. Then, the next time I had to fly ATL-LAS, I discovered my self-righteous indignation wasn't worth the extra money to fly DL. Oh well.

AirTran is my only "never again" airline. Christ is that a ghetto operation, from the top down. ATA might be, if they hadn't gone belly-up.

Im with you, even though we have casual Friday's I dont feel professional wearing jeans. I do generally wear khaki pants though on Friday's (no tie:eek:)

Isn't WN the official airline of Lt. Dangle?

Can anyone here take the award for never having been on any sort of charter/LCC?

There are (were) a few of them plying the NYC-FLL route, which is my most traveled route. I've taken B6 (early years), USA3000, Song (does that count?), and Carnival. They were actually pretty good until they folded. My brother, however, had the misfortune of flying Braniff v3 (maybe v2) which folded a day or so before he was to go away, IIRC.

Hm, who gets the award for flying on the greatest number of defunct airlines? Mine is short, unfortunately:

Eastern
TWA
ValuJet
Independence Air
America West
ATA

I have never had that problem with AirTran. My issue with AirTran is that they generally have the same fares as DL out of Atlanta, so there is no upside to flying with them.

Great question Sausage King of Chicago!

Although I'll ding you on ValuJet as they're essentially AirTran rebranded.

My list, off the top of my head, is:

TWA
Eastern
Pan Am
Trump Shuttle
Piedmont
Tower Air (HAHAHA)
Independence
Air Florida
Ansett AU
America West (if that counts)
Are we counting things like Ted, MetroJet, Shuttle by United, etc?

Just looked up on wiki that BWIA is now defunct. That's another.

... that's all I can think of. I'm sure there's another one or two in there.

If you can't add Pan Am you should be eliminated.:D:D:D

Definitely Eastern, Piedmont, America West (got an upgrade to LAS!!) and People Express. No ValuJet pre-crash, but AirTran a few times since.

I've been on WN and B6 a handful of times each, but never a charter.

My defunct airlines:
  • Piedmont
  • TWA
  • Champion
  • America West
  • Ted, if you really can count it as being separate from UA

Happy Times

I just remembered two random intra-Florida flights from when I was younger and got to add them to my FlightMemory. Of course, I don't know what airline they were on or plane type (likely B1900s or Dash-8s) but it is always fun to "discover" more flying history.

Apparently I'm easily entertained.

Oh good grief, I was probably 11 when they went belly-up and my parents weren't of the means to do much international travel...

Funny you mention Atlanta - the only pleasant experience I had on AirTran was on the BWI-ROC flights. From the planes full of infrequent flyers to the less-than-professional GAs, just awful.

Only upside was the paid upgrades, though that became moot after I made FO on DL.
