My block was frequently used for Law & Order and the various spin-offs since we're very close to the Chelsea Piers studios and also to some housing projects and parks. Those days were never fun.

That looks AWESOME! I'm sure ALCO is trying to figure out how to add that one to his Flight Memory now.

the fun right now is that templehof is still open, but it is closing soon, so its the same airport as the Air Lift. I am tempted to do the day trip to saxony that they offer, but have to see if I have the time.

I saw an article about this plane on an LH flight in Feb, it has no AC , they open the windows for air.

Any news on the date of Templehof's closing? I think it would be pretty cool to get over there...

EDIT: Answering my own question... "Tempelhof Airport is due to close on October 31, 2008."

I thought it was October of this year but I read that late last year.

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. Rent-a-cops on power trips are never good.

Be sure to let us know when the footage is available on YouTube! :D

On youtube now. Boring video for the most part. Around 9:36 in, you can see some pyrotechnics.

Very interesting. So, how did things end?

He confiscated my city hall ID. I didn't care, since I've used it only once and I won't be needing it much longer, since I am moving to Houston this summer. I figured, I had 1:40 worth of "clean" video that would be okay for TV. So, I didn't fight it much longer after that, another 2 and half minutes and I left. I wanted to see how far he would go with it. I was waiting for a sergeant or LT to come by. I wanted to get their opinion on if I was allowed to shoot. We have a lawyer on call 24/7 and I was about to page one. But, for a 20-30 second story, it wasn't worth the fight. I walked away angry. Oh well.

I couldn't understand from the video, he was a security guard hired by the city or by the set crew?

The city has their own unarmed security guards.

OPFlyer Jun 24, 2008 8:22 pm

Interesting. Well he was definitaly out of line, as by law you are protected to film at your descresion so long as you are on public property.

I want 2 hours of my life back. I just spent them in one of the B gate areas (72) at IAH sans A/C. It was very classy of the G/A's to point the fans towards them and not out into the mass of humanity.

At least I had 12A.
