I love tacos from joints like that. I was watching Anthony Zimmern last night, who did a show in Mexico City and was stuffing his face with street food. Mmmm. . . .

I'm glad I avoided the temptations of street meat on my recent MEX outing. I'm not looking to "friend" any protozoans at the moment. The ones at El Taquito and I are on good terms, though :D

I just turned on JFK Tower on LiveATC. Airport is open, since controllers are doing stuff. Controller just gave DL98 directions to gate or runway, couldn't tell.

ETA: Controller: "It looks like half your fleet can't get into a gate." - to a DL taxiing pilot.

If you're not eating street food then you're not really traveling. Of course, I licked my fingers in Bangalore and spent two days on the couch in the hotel waiting for the cipro to kick in, but I now know not to make that mistake again and I also know that in most cities I've visited the street food has been the best part. Sadly, NYC lacks in that particular category.

Another animal entirely, and probably good for another few pages of Box. Love there just as much as Palm.

I love LiveATC.net.

The Mom had strawberries and cream on the sidewalk in AMS about 10 years ago...came home a week later and spent 10 days in the hospital with a parasite that was kind enough to lay dormant until she came home. After review, it was thought that the strawberries were washed in river water. This gave rise to the joke that she had "duck$hit disease".

I have found the quality of Canadian Street Meat to be exceptional, Toronto especially.

When it comes to Mexican, Indian, or other Street Meats of dubious vintage, I'm afraid my gastrointestinal dance card is full.

Yes, much better to go to an actual restaurant and have "clean" versions of what is available on the street.

What's even better than the live stream is the archive where guys cherry-pick the ATC tapes for the funny stuff. The JFK controller that pulled the "saved a bunch of money with Geico" joke on a pilot comes to mind.

The key to street food is that it either be cooked or a fruit with a rind/skin that you peel off. My mistake was that I was eating a fruit with a rind but I licked my fingers so I got the disease from the rind.

Steamed buns on the street in Bangkok were phenomenal. And the street food in HKG is off the charts. I honestly have no idea what 99% of the junk I ate was, nor do I think I could find most of it again. But I know it was delicious.

Same here. Never have had anything questionable off the street in Toronto.

And I've generally been lucky with taco vendors in Houston on the few occassions I've gone for one of those. Same thing with some of the seedier looking Chinese places way out on Bellaire.

Welcome to the most auspicious Tapir Sandwich Club. :D

I just have to put in a plug for the incredible job that Starwood did converting a 1970s era Radisson into the Sheraton Four Points Memorial City. Granted you have to deal with the construction mess at Beltway 8 and the Katy Freeway at your front door, but my suite on the 15th floor is gorgeous. And at the price I'm paying, it's a pretty sweet deal.

And the low-mileage, new car smelling Cadillac DTS that National at IAH gave me for $39/day ain't bad either!

I just strolled over to the CO.com auctions and noticed that some idiot is bidding 93k+ miles on a $200 external harddrive. What a moron.... I'd buy him 5 of them for 93k miles.
