Why can't we all be more like the Canucks. Make like a goose and fly under the radar.

I too am employed by Teutons and I am amazed in my travels through Asia (not that often) how each time there are more and more German techniks running around.

Redeeming miles for a bus ride - can't beat that! :D

Did they start giving EQMs for riding the bus again? CO.com still says 0% EQMs when looking at the ABE-EWR "flights".

One of the weekend co.com specials this week is IAH-CHA for $139. If I wasn't going to LA, I would do this. A route for my flightmemory that may never come back.

From CLE, two of the specials are GRB and GSO - routes to be shut down.

Any suggestions on a Vegas hotel for a first time visitor mostly interested in just checking out the more extravagant places the strip has to offer?

I'm leaning towards the Venetian right now but am also considering the Bellagio, Wynn or the new Palazzo (although, I hear parts of it are still under construction). Does anyone know much about the new Trump International? I can't stomach the thought of supporting that man's business ventures but I might consider it if the hotel comes highly recommended.

I was just in LAS 2 weekends ago.
The Palazzo still has construction near the front part which looks over the strip and to the Venetian.
All the main entrances are fully operational , and the inside is spectacular.
The Trump is located across the street from the Wynn and I don't think it has a casino. I believe it is connected to the Wynn by skybridge.

The Bellagio probably has the best location on the strip as it is right in the middle , you can walk across to Ceasars, and cross to the Venetian , and head towards the Palazzo and Wynn, or walk the other way towards PH, MGM, NY NY and then take the tram from the xcalibur to Luxor and Mandalay.

This last trip I stayed at The Hotel @ Mandalay bay , which is very nice as well.

The Ceasar's new tower is also nice , I stayed there in april.
also If you are looking to watch a show , We just saw The Beatles Love @ Mirage, It was a great combo of music with Cirque Du Solei acrobatics.

Also Check out Nove Italiano at the Palms, Its on one of the top levels of the Playboy tower and has great Italian food, as well as escalator access to the Playboy Club , with great views of LAS at night.

No EQM's for daBus. Not an issue for me but I don't understand why not. If they fare by market, what's it matter if it's a bus w/out wings?

Gawd is that driver annoying.

He tried to tell us one day that CO in EWR processes 1 MM bags PER DAY. When I tried to do the math for him (and tell him per year was more like it) he would have none of it and to this day uses the same BS in his spiel.

Shaddup already, sheesh.

I actually just some quick research on this and found a post from CO Insider saying that beginning in 2008, EQMs would be awarded for the bus. No surprise that co.com still does not show this change though.

I have to try the bus one day... It sounds like an experience.

Thanks for the great info, rolov! The Palazzo sounds like it could be a good option for me. As a plus, their rates look very reasonable as well.

I rode the bus before, or was that WN???

colpuck Jun 24, 2008 2:23 pm

Ok, who bought all of the IAH-CHA specials. Fess up now. :p

I have a client who has, as of about 3 minutes ago, spent $15,000 with me on premium event tickets. Thanks to her, I shattered last year's sales number with my ticket guy in about April or so. The hits just keep on coming.

Just passed Harold Perrineau (aka Michael on Lost) on the sidewalk in front of my apartment. They're filming a new ABC series The Unusuals Of course being the jaded New Yorker, I'm more pissed about them taking of 3 blocks of prime parking than I am excited about seeing Hollywooders in my 'hood.

Time for a beer...

Partial list of shows bought in 2008:

Elton John - Caesars Vegas
Bette Midler - Caesars Vegas
Cirque Love - Venetian

Eric Clapton
Rod Stewart
CSN (6 seats)
Steely Dan
Eagles
Chicago/Doobie Bros.
Stevie Nicks
(All of these at Borgata)

I should mention that she settles for nothing less than 10th row center. Anything right or left and farther from the 10th takes me twice as long to sell her, minimum.
