It's happened to me once. I had an IAH-ATL flight land in BHM last year after circling for over an hour south of ATL waiting for thunderstorms to clear. We then had a missed approach at BHM and had to circle around and try to land a second time. After about 90 minutes on the ground we took off for the short flight back to ATL.

A CO question for the box.

Before I call CO and make changes to a reward ticket, how easy is it to just change one leg of the itinerary?

Basically, I want to push the outbound back 2 days, but the leave the return as-is. Is this possible?

Sure - you can change the outbound, inbound, change individual segments, add stopovers, etc. You can change anything, as long as there is availability on the flights that you want and as long as you stay within the rules of the particular reward.

For example, you can change EWR-LHR-EWR on CO to EWR-LHR (VS)-CDG (AF) - IST (AF) - AMS (KL) - CDG (KL) - ATL (AF) - EWR (CO).

It has been awhile since I made any changes to a reward ticket. IIRC, a change to the outbound will require a reissue of the entire ticket. So, there would have to be availability in the reward fare bucket you are using on both the outbound and return for the dates you want. Also, I think Golds may have to pay some sort of fee for changes. Odd how out of touch one gets with something as simple as reward redemptions after not redeeming for two years (at least, not on CO).

Ugh, I don't mind paying the $35.00 for the reissue, but I don't want to deal with reissuing the return.

I'm not sure that is the case - I seem to recall changing the outbound without a total reissue.

I have recently changed my initial segment on a reward flight without requiring a complete re-issue. I went from JFK-ORY//CDG-IST to EWR-AMS-IST and then later changed the AMS-IST to an earlier flight, all without worrying about the later flights in the itinerary.

Shouldn't be a problem, assuming availability on the date you want to change to.

Yes, I just reviewed some old reward ticket histories and confirmed that I changed the outbound segments on some of them without reissue of the ticket. On one complex itinerary, I made seven total changes (including three outbound changes) and kept the same PNR throughout the entire process.

Take the shuttle bus from the airport to the closest metro stop, then ride the metro into the center of town. I'd suggest hitting up Old Town Square, then walking over to the river and Charles Bridge. Within the area, there are numerous pubs and beer gardens serving fantastic Czech beer. The various versions of Staropramen and Krusovice they serve over there are fantastic. The import versions we get pale in comparison.

Agent "I can't change from a DL Business TATL to CO BusinessFirst TATL because the BF TATL is a different reward series."

huh?

I'll answer my own question.

on DL/AF/NW my series 10 award is 120k
on CO/VS my series 10 award would be 180K

Fine CO I'll make you buy me a ticket on DL's newer business class product at lower price than your own dated BF product!

Hrm, that Openskies offer at the top is really intriguing. If we could get the time off I might investigate it. Oh well, such is life.

Well after 90 min dealing with useless at LGA the net result was nothing. They don't know what they're doing. And my fue res will turn into a pumpkin at midnight.

This is why I no longer fly US. They are worthless.

Sorry to hear of your troubles. At least I don't have to buy you 10 drinks in the PC now. :p

Any chance of them extending the reservation? They seem to have extended mine based on their inability to issue etickets yet for the cities I'm going to.

Check the details on the pricing if you do decide to go through with it. I saw someone post in the Only Randy Peterson forum that it is similar to the AmEx 2-4-1 program, with the 2-fer seats coming out of the most expensive bucket.

Perhaps calling them and asking them to extend the reservation is a possibility given their inability to ticket you.
