Actually, most FT events are good networking opportunities as most of us are successful professionals. But there is a valid point that networking should happen earlier in the evening rather than later as most FTers get pretty over served! :)

I might suggest making or getting some personal business cards to distribute if you meet anyone in your field.

I'm very much looking forward to my first FT event. No idea what my job will be by Feb 6, but I look forward to meeting this group and seeing what makes it tick. ;)

Someday, God willing. For now, I content myself with the knowledge that I have been in University/Law School since 1998, have more degrees than I can shake a stick at, and am earning less than I did when I managed a Radioshack, before I even earned my B.A.

After 15 years in the legal industry, 5 as a Support Enforcement Officer and 10 as a legal technology consultant (now specializing in international electronic discovery & disclosure), I am more than happy to chat off line about the legal and technology industries.

You managed a $hitshack? Priceless!

Then again, I managed two eateries at Sea World so I guess we both have great stories.

I would if I have any time. The Bolt Bus arrives at 30th & Market at 9:30 and I need to get myself down to PHL from there.

IIRC there is a SEPTA direct from the 30th Street rail station directly to PHL.

BTW, I am keeping this thing on my radar but can't commit because the first week of every month is especially busy for me. What is the Bolt bus schedule that would connect with the party flight? I presume that the party will be in the coach cabin and any EUAs will be refused. Is that so?

I cleaned up at that job. The spiff on cell-phone sales was ridiculous. My store was in a somewhat sketchy area of Austin where certain sketchy people would purchase cell-phones in bulk. :D

Totally OT: So this morning I chatted with my brother, who is a pilot for B6. He said they CX his BOS-LAS flight today because they couldn't get all the way there w/o stopping for fuel due to the winds, and also the snow mess in LAS.

I'm kind of surpised by that, but I gotta take his word for it. I thought the A320 had plenty of range.

The big events in IAH are a blast, but they are now becoming conventions and losing some of the intimacy of "the early years." It still is awesome to finally put a face to the names that you see here every day. Most of us are not as geeky as you might expect, though some need to stop sniffing the kerosene and broaden their horizons!

I've only flown NZ's trans-Tasman C, but the service was outstanding and the food was quite good.

I have recently flown NZ LAX-AKL in C and also trans-Tasman AKL-MEL. The seats on the 74s are virtually identical to those on the VS 340s and the service is, believe it or not, even better.

Save your OP miles for next year when you can use them on that carrier.

I'm a Bombay or Gordon's man, myself.

The internet has just been severly restricted at work to 12 websites that we need.

Laptops and other devices that distract from the job are also prohibited.

I guess they are pissed at someone for not doing somthing but will take it out on everyone instead of addressing it.

The A320s now have the range in normal weather (after pulling seats), but these storms are anything but normal.
