Any thoughts on the topic?

Since I don't normally do a ton of editing, I was leaning towards just going with JPEG. I suppose I could always start with RAW+JPEG and see if the RAW files ever come in handy.

If I remember correctly you were going to get Lightroom, if that's the case, I'd shoot just RAW.

RAW+JPEG eats up a ton of card space. I probably should get around to playing with RAW...it would help tremendously with indoor shots that have poor lighting...hockey games come to mind.

Hockey games may be best to shoot in RAW as it's easy to fix the white balance in post and that may be all the photos need to get fixed and look correct.

Also depends on what program you use on your computer to process/organize your photos. I use Apple's Aperture. If one uses Aperture or Adobe's Lightroom, workflow shooting with RAW is basically the same as JPEG with no extra conversion steps. But if you have to use an extra RAW converter, then it's hassle.

Memory cards are so cheap now that you shouldn't let that stop you from shooting RAW.

Yep, and the aisle bulkhead seats up there can be especially good, with lots of legroom.

I am planning on using Lightroom a bit more, but I also don't think I want to have to convert all pictures before posting them on - for example - flickr.

I may go with the suggestion to shoot both and determine it based on the lighting and the subject I'm shooting. Memory cards are so cheap now that space is hardly an issue.

Thanks for the input, everyone!

For some reason the lack of windows there bothers me. Don't know why since I sit in the middle part.

Back to RAW and stuff. With my camera I took This Photo in RAW and JPEG. That photo is the JPEG version because I could not get that nice black background w/ RAW. Loooked like crap.

I find converting photos from RAW to be used on Flickr to be a pain. I went through that ordeal the other week w/ 100 photos.

The conversion can be done in the export workflow in Lightroom.

I keep my originals and my exports completely separate to allow for easy backup of the Lightroom library and the deleting of the exports after upload to Flickr.

Was looking at doing a IAH-BUF MR and found that on one of the dates the EWR-IAH segment is a 764ER  ^

Looking at pda.continental.com it seems that this flight (311) is usually a 738.

How timely... I had just continued debating the possibility of a 23 hour trip to LAS at the end of the month.

You might need to give me a little Lightroom tour so I can get a feel for the workflow features.

LAS is a hard place to shoot at night. That's a great place to learn your camera w/o using full auto settings. I'm lucky to have shake reduction in the camera body too.

So you're saying I can justify the trip with myself because it will be for educational purposes? :)
