I will be crossing continents in coach for the first time in two years for the BRU do, I am ashamed to admit, and was wondering whether I should go with 44K or one of the row 32 aisle seats on the 777. I usually prefer 16D or 16F, but those will not be available until checkin, if at all. Right now I have 44K reserved and am leaning toward keepin it. The flight is not very full in coach.

I have a row to myself right now on the EWR-CDG segment and Y is pretty empty, here's to it staying that way. Even the BRU-EWR has a good number of empty seats.

My thinking on 44A is that I'll likely have at least 2 seats to myself. I'll also be in the back of the cabin and able to spot an empty set of 3 as soon as boarding is complete and move up if I so desire.

I should probably do what you both suggest as the GAs will definitely be seating people in the elite section.
A good 6-7 rows in the elite section are empty as well as 10+ in the regular Y seats. 44KL are open so I may jump on those. Is there an AF lounge available to arriving pax for a shower? |
I would go with 44KL. Kettles have a way of poaching whole rows before boarding even ends, so best to guarantee yourself an empty seat next to you and be in a position to see empty rows from the back rather than the front.

It's amazing how empty the CDG flight is, even two weeks out: http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1009/...28d979b6_o.png |

Done. Now for the return... A 764ER with a decent amount of elite seats open. Since it is a daytime flight, I think it is bearable to do it in the front of Y.

The 764 is totally meh in coach, with no really prime seats. I like row 16, but taller people may not. I would pick a pair of seats on either side and hope that no one sits next to you.
I agree though - the 764 in Y is pretty bad. |

I don't know for sure, but I'd guess it is very unlikely for passengers arriving in Y. :(

Must be arriving on AF J or F to use the AF arrivals lounge. CO J has an arrivals facility - not sure whether it is the AF arrivals lounge, but it won't matter because you have to be flying J to use it.

I hate this curse. You know the one. You have the money for a bunch of leisure travel but not the time or you have the time but not the money. Falling into the latter group and seeing so many opportunities right in front of me is driving me nuts. You know things like the BRU-pub craw, the BWI-SEA MR, and now I see over in the TravelBuzz section about competitours and an article by sbm12 Arggghh. I love Amazing Race which that is based on.
