I sometimes wish my internet was filtered to turn off travel sites during business hours......

I hear the SPG Properties there are Awesome™

I stayed at a Sheraton that wasn't so bad - they even gave me lounge access as a non-Plat.

Hilton has some great properties as well. I stayed at a Japanese chain, Prince maybe, but do not recall the name or location. I do remember the amazing koi pond and garden that made it through the firestorms of WWII. I really enjoyed getting up earlier and watching the old gardeners at work.

Thoughts?

I've usually spent it when buying a ticket that I just wanted to reduce my cash outlay on. I've used as little as $20 and as much as about $175 before. Since there's no difference in mileage earning or EQMs when redeeming Travel Bank funds, I don't really have an issue with using it. Right now I'm at $130, after redeeming the $150 or so I had back in June for us to get to Houston and back for a friend's wedding. I guess if I was able to book all my work travel on CO.com and get more Travel Bank $5 credits, I'd try and save it for a bigger trip, like a discounted first or BusinessFirst ticket someplace. But given that most of my travel can't earn Travel Bank credits, it's just easier for me to use it a few times a year and not worry about saving it for something big.

Is there a flight to MLU on any airline that doesn't qualify as Awesome™? Isn't MLU, just by default, automatically considered to be Awesome™?

IMO, it's preferable to the nonstop IAH-MLU on the Colgan Air Saab. I'll get a new line on the FlightMemory (MEM-MLU), and an opportunity to grab some BBQ at MEM. ^

Everyone raves about the barbecue at MEM, but on my last two trips there, the food was so-so, and the service was downright nasty. Maybe I'm going to the wrong barbecue joint in MEM? Is there more than one?

Is now a good time to go long OIL? I just placed a small bet on UCO 2x leveraged daily price of OIL.

Totally OT: So this morning I chatted with my brother, who is a pilot for B6. He said they CX his BOS-LAS flight today because they couldn't get all the way there w/o stopping for fuel due to the winds, and also the snow mess in LAS.

I'm kind of surpised by that, but I gotta take his word for it. I thought the A320 had plenty of range.

The winds lately have been insane, especially for westbound flights. I've had ATL-IAH flights taking 20-30 minutes longer than usual as a result.

On the other hand, I've had IAH-ATL flights that got me home that much sooner.
