I'm back at it again trying to figure out how to us my NW miles on CO.

So, to upgrade one way of my NRT trip I need to have an H or Y fare. Both of my segments are V so I'll need to change one and am trying to estimate how much that would be (before worrying about availability and all that). Trying to do a change on CO.com is giving me an error so I did this, but I wonder if I am off base or not:

Price two RT tickets today using the same dates but with the H fare:$3500
Price of the two RT V class ticket: $2150
Difference between H-RT and V-RT: $1350
Estimate of fare difference for two one segment changes: $675
Change fee for two people (but 1 pnr): $200
Total to change one segment for two people to H: $875

So, is my logic sound?

Considering what a few hours in Y was like to FLL $875 for two doesn't sound bad, I'll take it one way w/the miles.

belynch, your post was beautiful. Good for you for going and doing something you should be doing and something you love. And thanks for pushing me to volunteer - I wouldn't do it as a medic (In Houston, they still think it's okay to wear Latex gloves everywhere and I can't be around those), but will look into volunteering at Hospice or similar. ^ to what you're doing.

Today must be broken APU day at ATL for NW. The last two NW Airbuses to depart have both needed an air cart start. And based on my experience with NW in the past year, this is not unusual for their 320s. I guess the navy blue duct tape just won't fix an A-320 APU like it will fix the interior of a DC-9. But it does make one wonder if NW ever fixes their broken APUs, or just depend indefinitely on using the air carts to get the engines going when one dies.

Sitting in C South at IAH and there are gnats and flies sporadically around the club... :td:

Guess I should count my blessings that it's gnats and not mice.

I'll trade. It's about 85 degrees inside the ATL club right now.

$500 to go on the engagement ring after giving the jeweler this weekend's tips...with that said, I guess I should start soliciting ideas. I was thinking I should take a knee on Daytona Beach when we're down there in September. Does anyone in the Box know that area well enough to recommend a spot? We're doing two nights Daytona and two nights MCO on a timeshare promo. She has said that she does not want to get married on the beach, but would like the proposal to happen on the beach. We're doing PHL-CLE-MCO on 11 Sept, and return on 15th. I did seriously consider trying to do it via PA on the flight to MCO, but I've been warned that a public proposal is a bad idea. She's a beach person and that does seem like the best idea, but that just seems too easy. I've done 14 proposal setups for clients (flowers, dinner, misdirection, you name it) and I'm coming up blank for myself - talk about annoying.

I'm not a fan of Daytona Beach for ambience, CM, but if you're willing to take a bit of a drive, I'd go either a bit further N or S to a more secluded setting. By not public, I'm assuming you don't want to do a beachfront restaurant, correct? What about a beach picnic with champagne (make sure it's not an alochol free beach or at least not one that you'll get arrested for it ;) ) or something similar and do it at sunset with candles or similarly romantic (don't forget a blanket. I think your planning will get your major points!

LHR-LAX. It is one of the dozen or so X fares published on the route.

I published the fare rules in the MR thread. Sadly KVS no longer has all the good details like they used to.

I can price these fares using the +/- 3 day or monthly calendar feature, but when I select the dates on which the fare is supposedly available, the price jumps to $595 (before taxes).

My husband just sent me an email with the subject line "any interest?" - it was for a job that requires up to 100% travel. Is he trying to tell me something????

She suggested a setting for the proposal? Doesn't that sort of defeat the sense of surprise that is supposed to be present in any good proposal?

Well the new bartender they have here (who looks like a high-schooler) gave me grief about the premium Pinot Noir (^^) and I asked him, "are you old enough to bar-tend?", call it a case of the Mondays.

It was probably the same one who took my drink order by saying "What's up, boss?", then gave me a dripping wet glass in which to pour my wine. I prefer my Stags Leap cab sans dishwater, thank you very much. He looked and acted like he was about 16.

The premium Pinot Noir is quite good, by the way.

I think he's sweet, but yes, he looks 16, and he probably is. Why is he giving you grief over the Pinot Noir? I started bartending at 19 (actually was on the concierge level of a hotel, but basically a glorified bartender) and thought I knew everything ;)

Beachfront restaurant wasn't a consideration, but I would prefer not over food. Picnic would work, but that's too hard to hide in the luggage.

Yes and no. I don't necessarily have to do the beach thing and make it predictable, but that is more and more seeming like the idea to go with. And as far as surprise, there is still a large element of it, because she has no idea that I'm working on it for the trip. Further comment on surprise: most women don't see the ring until the guy presents it. She picked hers out but doesn't remember what it looks like....she can describe it very vaguely, but if I put three rings in front of her and asked her which one was the one I bought, she couldn't tell me. I elected to have her pick because she is quite the perfectionist, and I didn't want to have to go back to the jeweler after the fact and get something different.
