Indeed. Gotta go board my SA flight now. Hope the penguins are feeling photogenic tomorrow. :D

ARGH. I blew out my knee at the gym last night. This should make this weekend's funeral north of ALB even more torturous.

If I have a big honkin' bandage/ice pack on my knee. Will CO kick me out of an exit row? (thinkin' about next week's SFO trip)

:mad::mad::mad:

ConciergeMike, interesting job posting. Probably pays more than anything in the hospitality industry, but completely different job and work atmosphere. Hospitals also tend to be very unstable work environments for non medical professionals.

Nice! I look forward to the pictures! Was this another mistake fare?

Anyone in The Box happen to have (or know someone who does) a hospitality background that they wouldn't mind applying to a hospital environment? I got a cold call at work yesterday as a result of LinkedIn that pitched this job - it's an executive committee spot at a large Central NJ regional hospital. Title is "Senior Manager, Guest Relations". I have an abstract if anyone so desires. Says nothing about travel :(

I worked in a hospital during college being a paper pusher in the ER. I also floated onto the regular hospital floors from time to time. I have seen entirely too many naked old people and watched too many people die. It's a fact of life in the hospital and not something that is all that out of the ordinary but when you're not expecting it, it can be a doosie. That said, I'm wondering what the guest relations position would have to do with anything in a hospital; can you provide more information? Chances are high that you would never have to deal with a patient.

And the answer is...

C. colpuck, I owe you a beer.

I have circled the globe nearly twice in an ERJ.

I'm really scared to see what my total mileage is for all aircraft with 50 or fewer seats.

More than likely, yes. You would probably be defined as "unable to assist", or whatever the term is. Two options: don't bandage it and gut out the flight in an exit row, or bandage it up and plead for bulkhead. Getting an EUA of course mitigates all of this.

That's wht I thought too - very alluring idea to apply a hotelier's brain to a hospital. But I suppose loyalty marketing isn't something you should be good at for this job. I'm too young for it, too - it's very appealing to me personally, but I doubt I would get an interview.

I have a position profile that was forwarded to me by the guy who called - if you want it, PM me an address. n.b.: it's an executive search firm, and he promised me nothing...I'm not looking to make money.

I actually found some comparable positions at various hospitals across the country. It looks like it is simply a concierge for hospital patients and their families. Instead of finding tee times and restaurant reservations, you'd be finding language translators and help with powers of attorney or living wills. You'd be responsible to recommend local hotels for family coming to see a patient and so forth. I see some that are even offering oil change services for your car. I searched for Hospital Guest Relations on Google and it listed a ton of hospital websites with the services they offer.

ConciergeMike Jul 4, 2008 11:27 am

Not according to what got forwarded to me - if it were just a concierge-style position, they wouldn't be offering relocation and 30 days off in the first year. You searched for "guest relations" but you left out "senior manager". Also, the position has a seat on the hospital's executive committee.

Saturday Night bump for the Box - nobody puts the Box on Page 2 of the CO Forum, and it was about 6 threads from being there.

I never know what day it is. Really, I don't. I have a Citizen Eco-Drive, and I have to keep the right-side digital window on the date function...I really can't use it for anything else.
