I'm obsessing over getting this exit row and I see some took the window seat of the row that was empty. Presumably they're gold or plat, but it's weird that with F seats open no one is on the upgrade list. I'm puzzled. I haven't seen movement in the 'premium' section, so I'm pretty sure it's a new fare. Hrm. Barring the exit row are you still able to move up at checkin? I see that row 7a-c is empty, and if we have to sit next to someone I'd rather be closer to the exit.
--- More impression of the LAX PC: - It seems a little worn, but not too bad. I think the restroom may need work first. The sink faucet leaks, so they put a whole bunch of paper towels around the faucets. Just look horrible. - I didn't try to use any of outlets, but I saw in each "work booth" is an old fashioned telephone. They are touchtone ones, but they are the type that looks like, er, a telephone. - They don't have taps. And only 4 beer choices. I said to the bartender "Oh, you don't have taps here", and she moaned. :) - At around 10:30p, they announced pre-boarding for the 11:00p EWR red-eye. At 11:45p, I went up and asked what's the boarding situation with my 12:30a IAH, the agent said boarding would start at midnight. But they did not annouce it again! Very strange. I was still sitting there, half asleep, until at around 12:10a, they announced "everybody on 1094 to IAH needs to go to the gate now!" I went to bathroom, went across to Gate 62 (directly across from PC), and they've actually boarded everybody already. --- CO 1E - Think about this. A 40D is a lot cheaper than that bike! |

ALCO - It looks like some of your kin have been busy. Nice of you to start the young 'uns off well with a quick pub crawl.

For the 1A / 3A debate, I'll take 3A any day. Chances are at least one person will select the "other" option, so the food choice should still be relevant by the time the F/A gets back to you.
And I'd rather the underseat storage for my laptop and my feet. I find bulkheads, even with the cut-out, too restricted in terms of space. |

1E and F have the cutout on the 738s with four rows? This is where SeatGuru needs to improve.

Feel free to send me a PM with prices. ^
While I don't want to go too budget/low-end, I'm not sure I can justify a 40D for my first DSLR. |

On vacation
I am getting more and more excited about my vacation. I am finally taking a real trip to somewhere. Our large group of soccer parents and 14 yr old boys are off to Ireland and Sweden for a tourney. We will be using Aer Lingus, SAS and RyanAir, departing SFO on July 4....should be quite an experience.

Do I take the non-stop from EWR - SFO and sit in the middle seat of the exit row with an unlikely shot at an upgrade (although I will be a Plat on an H fare) and pay $100 more.
Or, do I fly out of LGA, switch in IAH and get almost guaranteed EUA's for all 4 legs and save my company some scratch. Oh what a dilemma. I'm flying out a day early to visit a friend, so I'm not on a tight timeline and on the return, it's an all-day event anyway (I don't do redeyes when possible) so the extra time via IAH won't kill me. Also - any Le Meridien San Fran reviews post renovation? |

How do you say no?
... Or I could take Virgin out of JFK (ARGH) for half the price of the LGA connecting flights. |
Ryanair is fine as long as you know what to expect. They are a reliable airline that runs a tight ship.
