The course blew the horn a few minutes later.

Although this was not weather related the discussion reminded me of this.
I was playing golf when we had the black out in 2003
Many cell phones did not work , and we just heard sirens and had no clue what was going on. Everyone thought it was a some sort of attack . Many people left the course. My friend was able to call his wife , she told him what was going on and to stay on the course since there was no power anywhere and nothing to do .

YX/CO it is. I have booked the tickets, and what YX miles I have left I've exchanged for Hilton HHonors points, since today is the last day you can do that. So I get a long, roundabout, but quite comfy, trip from ATL to IAH via MKE and DFW at a reasonable price, and 30,000 HHonors points. I'm left with a whopping 29 Midwest Miles now. Not a bad deal since all those Midwest Miles mostly came from a Diners Club-Midwest 50% bonus promotion last year. I've managed to turn about 20,000 Diners points into 30,000 Hilton points and a free Midwest ticket (including the miles I earned on a LAX-MCI-MKE-ATL YX ticket last December). Not a bad deal at all.

And yes, it now looks like I'll be in H-Town for the baseball Do.

Hmm... while I'm booking crazy tickets, I am seriously considering an ATL-MIA-JFK routing involving DL to MIA and AA to JFK to get to NYC for a weekend in September. It would be a chance to pick up a new airport (MIA), two new routes, and the A-300. And AA has an "instant upgrade" fare for a one-way MIA-JFK ticket that's refundable and not too ridiculously priced.

I think that ALCO booked this for JFK-MIA-IAH a couple weeks ago. If you haven't done the A300 it seems like a good opportunity to do so.

No, I passed on the opportunity. Booking separate one-ways EWR-FLL; FLL-IAH worked out to be the cheapest option for getting from NYC-IAH. IIRC, I made that choice about the same time CO unveiled its MM Stats on the preview site (for obvious reasons).

I've been considering doing JFK-SJU later in the year, as it looks like that route will continue as an AB6 at least through this winter. The one-way Q-UP fares on that route are also reasonable.

Me: "Eh. I've been traveling too much. I'm really happy to be home for a couple weeks. I ended up getting stuck trying to get home last week, which is why I wasn't in the office on Friday, and ended up working most of the weekend."
1: "Oh. So, I suppose if I asked you to head back to ABQ tomorrow you wouldn't be happy?"
Me: "No."
1: "Hmmm.... I'll get back to you."

Damn. It. All.

That sucks! :(

Similar conversation today with my Latin America team. I asked them to confirm people's availability for my upcoming proposed visit to Brazil. The goal is to visit as many sites as feasible in a week. I told them "My calendar is filling up, I'm now only available for the Brazil visit the week of 7 July (yikes!), 21 July, or 11 August. Please confirm ...." yadayada project specifics.

So of course they come back with the best visit schedule for next week. Great. This may mean returning Sunday from a weekend in da Bayou to see the fam, dumping the dog somehow, and getting right on the EWR-GRU flight. Oh, and trying to hit 4 cities in 4 days while in Brazil...chances of the stars aligning and this all working out as planned? 0% +/-.001%?

Best of luck if you are counting on timely domestic connections within Brazil. You'll definitely need it. :D

To further the suck-fest, I got a call about 30 min. after posting that - the SBH's grandmother coded on the OR table this a.m. They revived her, but she's "not stable."

Being in the quasi medical profession I'm well aware that when run through the "real person speak" translator that means assemble the family. Blondie already left, and I'll probably follow tomorrow.

At least it's a definite no-go on the quirky turkey. I didn't give them an option, which resulted in a phone call from the CFO a short time later.

My first boss gave me some sage advice when I entered the working world - "always put personal before professional. And if anyone ever tells you differently, quit on the spot. That job isn't worth it."

Thankfully my work isn't putting me in that awkward position.

Well, started my CO and NW flying last week. Had a total of 5 flights, 2 CO and 3 NW. The CO flights were not upgradeable, 2 paid F NW flights and 1/1 NW upgrade from coach.

But nothing has posted to my account yet (used to UA where most flights post the next day). How long does it usually take for CO, NW and other partners to post?

Thanks!

CO usually takes two days; NW posts once per week (cannot remember the day of the week offhand).

Just curious, how much did that end up costing you? Over this past weekend the EWR-IAH fare went up to $409 through end of schedule
