I rode one of those in Honduras, from Guanaja to La Ceiba. Flying overwater in a single-engine plane, with a pilot who looked barely older than me (I was 18 at the time) was an interesting experience.

I put individual posts that make me laugh uncontrollably in my favorites, in a dedicated folder for when I need to smile. belynch has authored two of the three that live in that folder.

I got one of those flying FLL-BIM (the Chalk's Sea Plane was "unavailable" that day). Having a weigh-in for boarding was fun. So was watching the GPS nav system boot up and the big warning pop up indicating that it was out of date and not valid for flight planning. But we made it just fine. The Grumman Flying Mallard (Pic1, Pic2, Pic3, Pic4, Pic5) was certainly an experience to remember, and one that - much like the concorde - will not likely come back.

My girl was impressed by domestic F on US in 2007 - she didn't get out much. The overriding factor for her was the pitch and legroom because she slept and she doesn't sleep when she flies.

I told mine about exit rows via text msg before we really started dating, and she was impressed at the time because I knew they existed.

We had F on our Dec 2007 ORD-IAH flight and they served dinner. The legroom and service were what impressed her. The food was so-so (she liked the tomato soup )

My brothers loved having the exit row considering the one is 6'4".

I flew in one in Belize on our honeymoon, and got to sit in the FO seat. It was quite fun!

And she looked me, cocked her head in obvious concern and told me that no, it wouldn't bother her.

I then proceeded to draft a statement saying she wouldn't care if I farted in bed. Which she signed and I had notarized.

... I'm not joking. And many moons later she's not laughing.

Wow, I got nothing. I am sitting in an all hands meeting when I read that. Needless to say, I got some looks since I started laughing so hard.

Last year I invited my then-boyfriend to accompany me on a trip to EZE, using miles for his ticket (with work paying for my biz class ticket.) He said he would be "fine in coach." I insisted that I would only book him in C/J because I wasn't giving up my seat up front and didn't want to deal with him all cranky once we got down there. Sure enough just before breakfast after the all-night flight he got up and took a peak at the Y cabin...scary site! He proceeded to thank me profusely and never complained about me being a travel snob again. :D

Off-topic (meaning actually travel related ;) ): Sure enough, I have to be in Brazil next week. Availability is very limited, at least on the flights I'm willing to take. Am I crazy to choose a connection on an inferior product (Copa EWR-PTY-GRU) instead of a direct, Int'l C class flight (AA or TAM) simply for the miles?

OPFlyer Jul 1, 2008 11:22 am

Are there no premium seats available on CO EWR-IAH-GRU next week?

At the risk of being booted off FT - absolutely, 100%, yes. You are crazy.

Ahh - I feel like the Obama girl of FT, today. I'm blushing...

ConciergeMike Jul 1, 2008 11:25 am

Are the Copa flights up front?
