Just want to make a few comments about my CO trips to LAX. Don't feel like starting a thread for it, so I'll dump it here in the box.

- Both flights close early, leave gate on-time or early, get to destination 10-15 minutes early, etc... Nice to be NOT flying to EWR. ;)

- Used the LAX PC to sleep for 1.5 hours before my 12:30a 753 red-eye back to IAH. I am surprised how quiet and unbusy in that PC, my first time.

- About 30 minutes before flight, the PC agent announced over the PA looking for passengers flying on the 2nd redeye, the 1:30a 738, so that they could fly on my earlier flight to IAH.

- On my return flight, I was sitting in 22A on the 753. GA came back to upgrade someone in front of me, and then person in 22F, but she declined it! I think she was traveling with 22D and E, so that may be the reason. Said GA did the proper thing, went back to terminal, and came back a few minutes later to upgrade somebody else. Seems like they are taking the complimentary upgrade process very seriously at LAX. ^

- Row 22 on the 753 seems to have the exact amount of legroom as Row 16 on the 752. It's so nice that I could actually sleep on my side for that short LAX-IAH redeye.

Thanks for the info!

I'll be out there Monday and definitely want to check out the PC. The fare went down $100 (to an H) but I'll stick with the Y, thank you very much. :p

Her name wasn't Caroline W by chance, was it?

(Sorry, couldn't resist)

My geiger-counter is off the charts. Radioactive thread alert!

On an unrelated note, this photo is my favorite so far with the new camera set-up. Not really travel-related, aside from the fact that I just happened to snap it in New Orleans. The light and opportunity were just perfect. Cool bike, too.

Nice photo, indeed! ^

Great pic, BTW.

On the eve of the one year anniversary of this great steaming pile of a thread, I thought it might be worth reflecting on how we got here. We stand on the shoulders of giants. Without threads like these, we wouldn't be here today. I believe a moment of silence is in order.

Wait for it...

The LAX PC was quiet and busy the last time I was there, but I also felt like it was a bit dated and in need of a face lift. Several of the chairs were worn and stained, none of the outlets were working (in fact, man were just missing) and there was quite a bit of trash on the floor. Unfortunately, the staff seemed a bit cold as well.

I guess it's still better than the scary world on the other side of the PClub doors... :)

EDIT: ALCO, I hope I did not interrupt the moment of silence...

We wouldn't want to over do the moment.:D Unless we were drinking during it.

Sadly, my ConUniHound t-shirt is rather threadbare now. Guess that happens when you use it to wax the car.

Now you just had to go and make me click on the link to that thread again, didn't you?

I'm obsessing over getting this exit row and I see some took the window seat of the row that was empty. Presumably they're gold or plat, but it's weird that with F seats open no one is on the upgrade list. I'm puzzled. I haven't seen movement in the 'premium' section, so I'm pretty sure it's a new fare. Hrm. Barring the exit row are you still able to move up at checkin? I see that row 7a-c is empty, and if we have to sit next to someone I'd rather be closer to the exit.

Hrm, looks like I read the PDA site wrong. F is booked full, but it shows open seats on the seat map (weird). I guess that's what happened, but I would have assumed there would be an upgrade standby list just in case.

It can be booked full without all seats assigned; one or two are blocked until OLCI opens. And the standby list doesn't populate until check-in opens.

You'll be able to get any open seat at the OLCI window, exit rows included.

I was excited when ConUniHound gave me the Chrome status match. But really it was still just like SWA on the freeway.

LAX Pclub has some new staff who are not as friendly as the old, but still pretty good. I haven't had a problem with the outlets, but there are some times the place is very full. Strange about the trash - the cleaners must have been taking too many breaks!

Proof that my four year old pays attention to the safety videos. When my parents were delayed to SAV and we went back to the airport to pick them up, my daughter asked them "You missed your flight didn't you?". I explained that they didn't miss it, but that Continental made a mistake and that they had to wait for a later flight. She replied "Oh that Larry, I am so mad at him!". I had to explain that he was not in charge of all the flights, but somehow she holds him to blame. Maybe he ought to rethink that talk at the beginning of the video ;)
