Well, we made it through 9 holes without getting hit by lightening (or even getting rained on).

Anyone know of a job with minimal work, lots of travel and lots of golf? I want it.

Just curious, how much did that end up costing you? Over this past weekend the EWR-IAH fare went up to $409 through end of schedule

$114 all-in for a One-Way EWR-FLL
$109.50 all-in for a One-Way FLL-IAH

JFK-IAH one way (in coach) on DL was $600, CO didn't have a JFK-IAH leaving late enough in the afternoon for my needs on 7/7, and I wasn't too interested in flying B6 into HOU, as HOU is miles away from where I live.

I figured a trek between JFK/EWR, then an overnight in FLL would be worth it, for the extra $5 Travel Club Credits, LFM/EQMs, and cheap rate at the Sheraton FLL Airport Hotel (SPG Stay Credit towards 8K point bonus promo, 500 Point Plat Amenity, 500 Point Monday Night Stay in Florida Promo Bonus, Double Points Promo, and Charging to the SPG Amex, naturally).

Your not messin' around. I understand this but would LGA ever be an option?

LGA-IAH one-way was not competitively priced at the time I was searching (over $500, IIRC). It seems that CO is (or was, haven't checked lately) not matching B6's JFK-HOU one-way fares from LGA. Oddly, they often match those fares ex-EWR, if you are willing to connect in places like ORF, FLL, IND, BNA, etc.

Check out the Travel Photography Forum in Travel & Dining. Lots of good info on bags and such over there.

Also, I have this one (or something suitably similar though an older model). It holds quite a bit, especially when I move my 500mm lens tot he outside in the water bottle holder attachment. I can also get a body and 5-6 lenses inside without trying too hard. And my laptop fits in the top zipper compartment, though it isn't padded.

I opted for the Case Logic SLRC-4. I like the light weight, compact size, and sturdy feel of the interior padded partitions. For the exact amount you are proposing to carry, it would be ideal. However, I think their claim that this pack can carry two SLR bodies comfortably is somewhat disingenuous. Mine presently holds (with room to spare):

1 Canon 40D Body (w/ battery charger)
1 17-40 Canon EF Lens (w/ Lens Hood)
4 77mm Filters (in their cases)
1 15" Macbook (w/ power-cord)
1 Ultrapod 2 Mini-Tripod
1 Gorillapod Flexible Mini-Tripod
1 CompactFlash USB Reader

There is space in the front zip compartment (6 padded cells, laid out much like a six-pack of beer) for another two lenses, and one more lens hood. The 17-40 Zoom Lens fits fine inside, but is only about 4" long. I'm not sure how comfortable I would be trying to fit a lens longer than about 5.5" into the front compartment (the only compartment suitable for lens storage, BTW).

thanks for all the useful info Alco and sbm12 ^

Switch your consulting focus to the golf industry.

That in certain markets, they price out at almost exactly half of what a roundtrip would cost. It was even better, back in the days of the 500 mile online booking bonus.
