Is there any way for a non-elite to get an exit row? I'm figuring if the fight isn't very elite heavy it may possible if they all get an EUA? I'm looking at my flight on Wednesday and (for now) row 14 only has one person in it, though there may be silvers in rows 6-11 that would be in line.

You can select an exit row during check-in (online or at the airport).

This should be resolved at this point. They were supposed to migrate to a single billing system and over the years have been merging system after system. I haven't had Cingular in over a year, but prior to getting rid of them, i was able to walk into a CA store with a NJ number and not have any issues.

I'm really quite disturbed there's a wikipedia page for them. It's always fun to go there, though you really should rush back home or some other suitable location where you are comfortable with the rest room. :)

Does anyone else feel like finding cheap fares for a long weekend trip is now officially impossible? :( Outside of the continental.com specials of course...

I found some decent fares to YVR but the other costs associated with a trip up there killed that idea pretty quickly. I have a few trips planned for July but I have nothing beyond then and it is bugging me.

I'm slowly learning that the schedule I'm now working could in theory permit me to make 36-hour jaunts to places. Because I would ideally do 4 10-hour days, I can take those three days off and do an early AM Day 1 flight and a late PM flight on Day 3. I ran some dates for BHM (again) because I can't get the RTJ Trail idea out of my head. (Baglady, would you and Mr. BL be up for that if you haven't already?) EWR-BHM from a Tue to Thu in October: $1,290. H fare on an RJ. PHL-IAH/CLE-BHM, same dates? $291. More miles but worse times. I'm rambling....I just find that incredible.

EWR-PTY is running around $360 a/i and nets over 6k eqm's. Thats about the best Ive found for long haul cheap seats. I have yet to pull the trigger b/c Im not sure if I will be close enough to go for Platinum this year.

FWIW

I was on a flight back from DTW-LGA on NWA and I was sitting next to a manager for LH. They had just arrived from a FRA-DTW flight and was going to NYC. I asked why he was going this route, it was the only free F space that day. Anyway he had no clue about CO plans to join *A. Anyway he seemed to be happy at the thought of being able to avoid US and UA. But seemed to be worried that CO was not aggressive enough in this market and also that people at LH see CO as a budget airline. And then said that CO should have been more aggressive in hedging their fuel cost. LH did more but he did not have the exact figure. Anway it was a fun chat

MilesDavis Jun 30, 2008 7:40 am

Seems odd that a manager with LH would not have heard about CO chosing *A. That was pretty big news.

Personally, I am just dreading the lines on the release day. I have an existing contract and was hoping to just order online and have it arrive a few days later. I'll either have to wait in line on the 11th or just wait a few days until the crowds (and hopefully not the inventory) die down.

Is it really that important to get one on the day they are released? I would rather just wait a few days and avoid standing in line.

Eh. Not really. It depends on what area of the operation they work in.

I was in DE (and FRA) when CO announced they were joining * and I only heard about it by hopping onto FT from the CRC (on a connection I paid for ).

LH has their heads so far up their own ar$e$ it doesn't surprise me to hear about their misconceptions. No card carrying German (that's not an expat) thinks any airline is as good as LH. And when you point out flaws in LH's operations they get uber defensive*. I'm sure having US as part of * hasn't helped this reputation.

Although they all seem to kinda like DL for some reason.

CO - you can thank me for the free market intelligence in the way of some free BF upgrades. ;)

Hmm - that's not too bad. Thanks! The Panama Canal would be pretty cool to see...

This time around, it really is not all that important to me. Although, I must admit that my inner Apple geek got a hold of me for the first release and I ended up standing in line. :o

I went to go grab some coffee about an hour ago and found a gaggle of glum looking Germans standing around sulking.

I cheerfully asked in feigned ignorance "so, who won the game yesterday...".

It's amazing I'm still employed. ;)

Let me clarify that I have nothing against Germany and I only pick on them (on occasion) because they, as a culture, are generally very good. I appreciate the employment they've provided me, I'm friends with many of my German coworkers, and I especially appreciate that they let me negotiate my salary in Euros.

Let me also further clarify that I have no love in my heart for LH.
