Hey, dude. If I'm going to mess with someone on the train, you'll be the last one I would approach!
But I haven't seen anyone messing with anyone else either. |

The people who use don't have cars, so the primary users are lower income residents.
I use it all the time going to the airport (beats $9/day parking). You don't need a Kevlar vest, but there are some...interesting people on marta. |

Seriously? I've never felt the least bit threatened by anybody riding MARTA. I may be new to Atlanta, but I've been riding MARTA to/from the airport regularly for nearly a year now and have never experienced any situations or passengers that I felt threatened by.
I've only had two experiences with delays on MARTA going to/from the airport. One was a delay going south the airport one morning due to a mechanical problem with the train. It was one of the trains that hasn't been refurbished (still had the nasty carpet on the floors). We still got to the airport, but at a much slower than normal speed. The delay was probably about 15 minutes. The other time was on a northbound train from the Airport. A drunk guy started playing with the door at Five Points when it was trying to close, which resulted in him getting his foot jammed in the door. He started yelling "Some MF better open this f*****g door!" It took about 10 minutes before we were moving again. Fortunately a MARTA police officer came over and had written him a citation by the time the train's conductor had the door opened so he could get his foot out of it. He was taken away by the police officer. But generally I've found it to be reliable. My biggest complaint is that the frequencies are very slow outside of rush hour periods, especially on the East-West line where we live. |

Had no idea they were even refurbing the trains. Haven't been to ATL in about a year and a half.
I've ridden public transit in a lot of different cities. The stuff I've seen in Atlanta is tame compared to what I've seen in other places. Granted I haven't ever seen anyone shoot up heroin on a train or bus, in Atlanta, or anywhere else for that matter. |

If you check out the other related videos, and the girl's sister called a radio show and was interviewed. Apparently the girl did not take her medicine that day.
Don't forget concealed handguns are now allowed on MARTA, so watch out. |

I'm surprised the gestapo that runs that operation let's anything slip by. Maybe they were too busy handcuffing 12 year olds for eating french fries. In all kidding aside, I find the Metro to be one of the cleanest / safest operations in the country when it comes to public transport. Yes, you get the occasional hobo or two, but I used to fly US. I'm used to luggage by sack on a stick. ;) For those that are uninitiated with the NYC subway system it's generally clean, easy, safe, and reliable. But heed this warning. If a train is full (as they often are) and you see a car that is virtually empty - it is empty for a very good reason. Don't be tempted by it. Just jam in with everyone else and save your olfactory system. Fixin to take BART next week from SFO to the CBD. Anything to watch out for (besides Oakland)? |

I still find it funny that people queue to get on the cars and are fairly organized about it, whereas in other cities it's a free for all. |

^ I limit myself to a special per month, as I'm fairly certain each one adds another percentage point towards total arterial occlusion :D |

I'd like to proclaim that the only good thing about today is that upgrades in both directions on my trans-cons are looking better by the minute. Probably won't get up-front until the 24 hour mark, but there's 3 open seats on my Sun. a.m. flight and I'm on an H fair. Should be at the top of the list.

Riding the city buses in Austin is an experience. The T is interesting and the El has its share of "fun stuff" |
