We were driving back from Baba Yega and were able to see an amazing lightning show. We pull up to my fiancee's apartment and there are firetrucks everywhere. I look up and there are flames shooting out of the top of the complex next to hers. Really sad... :(

The fire fighters were having trouble getting pressure on the lines, probably due to the recent construction in the area.

We had a quick storm up here in the northeast last night , some lighting which took out power on my block only . It was minutes before the Argentina vs Brazil soccer match was about to start which I had already ordered on PPV. Now Im trying to call Comcast to get the charges removed.

Good luck with that.

Comcast is a PITA.

I learned this a few weeks ago when my DVR decided to erase all of my recorded shows.
I tried to get Verizon FIOS , but it was not available in my area .

I bet I'll get the upgrade when I check in tomorrow.

I should have bet myself. I received the EUA notification e-mail at 5:48AM, 7 minutes before the 24 hour check-in.

My Kettle Amigo has chosen NAS as the location for his batchelor party (in August, height of Hurricane season).

I know the general consensus here is that UA sucks, but does anyone want free Premier Exec status for 90 days? Details here. It will tell you you are registered regardless of if you qualify or not. If you do qualify, the status is supposed to show up on your account over the next few weeks. I registered, but I am not really sure why.

I'm sure UA elites are thrilled about this one...

LOL.

One of my colleagues just came running into my office and said that she heard that UA is dropping all its international routes from IAD due to high fuel prices.

Heh. Thank goodness it's noticeably cheaper to fly IAH-MIA, then purchase MIA-NAS separately (on BahamasAir or AA). Assuming no hurricanes, I'll be enjoying MIA (and to a lesser extent, NAS), for cheaper than IAH-NAS nonstop, on the ERJ. NAS is such a pit.

Welcome, to tommy777. Please be sure to read the entire thread for all the useful information (there's bound to be some hidden somewhere in here, right?). :D

Thanks for the advice :D. I will give xyzzy a daily call and pick his brain (or what's left of it). Right now I'm trying to figure out what to do with a PC membership. Credit card or a plain ol' membership? I don't have my boots with me to work, so no wading through this monster to find the answer.. :D

I thought we were nice to newcomers here in the Box. Suggesting that someone wade through the random crazy that is this thread searching for useful information is just plain mean. :p

Thank you for sticking up for me :p

Will do. Will start a new thread for each of my CO flights and report everything that happens :D (or not..)

Also, I will try to start as many "EWR sucks" threads as possible

Thank you all for your kind words, my first trip is tomorrow. On NW and they haven't updated my status yet. We shall see how my paper print out of a temporary card works ;)

Tommy777, are you looking at the Chase Presidential or Amex Plat? As much as I am not a fan of Chase - I love the discount on the wines and Veuve in the P club. For me it pays for it there! I drink the Groth SB cheaper in the P Club than I do at home!

tommy777 Jun 19, 2008 10:02 am

I was thinking about the Chase card. I'm scrapping my Chase UA Plat card now and was thinking about just changing it to the CO Pres. Chase card. The UA card used to be free for 1Ks. Not anymore... I don't have a RCC membership because my SAS EBG *G gives me free entry.

I observed the Veuve at the PC in IAH. A very nice touch !^

Is Gulfstream also still offering the FLL-NAS route? That was always a cheaper routing (EWR-FLL-NAS) than EWR-NAS and had an extra 500 miles to go with it.

And, yes, NAS is a pit. At least it is sure to be incredibly hot then so you won't really miss Houston weather. :D

ps- Happy 8,000 posts to me!

Congrats!

Yes, FLL-NAS is still offered, but IAH-FLL is $100 more than IAH-MIA for the same dates (go figure ). So, I'll be doing CO to MIA, then probably BahamasAir (UP) to NAS. AA and UP are about the same price, but I've never flown UP, and adding a new carrier to the FlightMemory is always fun.
