Is $459+++ each way really that good of a deal? I remember seeing it for around $700a/i a few months ago from NYC.

Congrats!

Yes, FLL-NAS is still offered, but IAH-FLL is $100 more than IAH-MIA for the same dates (go figure ). So, I'll be doing CO to MIA, then probably BahamasAir (UP) to NAS. AA and UP are about the same price, but I've never flown UP, and adding a new carrier to the FlightMemory is always fun.

Have you looked into Spirit Air? They are haveing a $48 off sale right now.

I have grave doubts whether NK will still be around in August. Aren't they supposedly laying off about half of their pilots by the end of July?

I agree re adding a new carrier/route. When I found the cheaper flights via FLL they were booked as single itineraries, not EWR-FLL + FLL-NAS. If a search IAH to NAS isn't showing that as a reasonable option then I guess it is out. It also looks like PBI is a connection point on that route for some flights.

No, it isn't a great deal. Decent, but not great. They're basically entering the market at the current normal price on the route, not undercutting. That being said, it is high season down there that time of year.

I've been looking at heading down that way for x-mas/NYE. Looks like I'll have another option for reward seats. ^

PBI is high, as well. I booked IAH-MIA; MIA-IAH as two separate one-ways (two TC credits), as it was essentially the same price as a roundtrip. Just discovered that UP has a lousy schedule for returning from NAS to MIA on the day I wish to travel. Booking UP outbound, AA return (as one-ways) is also disproportionately expensive. Looks like I'll be doing MIA-NAS-MIA on an AA ATR-72. Oh well, at least it's a new line on the FlightMemory. I should also receive a pittance of BA miles for the flights.

In the end, I couldn't resist $50 more for a new carrier, and a ride on a 737-200 (it has been a while since I rode one of those). BahamasAir, here I come. Plus, an air-conditioned 732 has to beat a steamy ATR-72 Cabin in August, no?

New airline, new route, and a plane that's become a rarity here in the US for passenger service? Sounds like a winner to me!

And yes, the 732 should be cooler than the ATR. IIRC the ATRs can't be connected to ground AC units. I have many memories of flying them in the summer out of IAH and sweating off a few pounds waiting to get airborne.

One Day Car Rental at IAH

How about this? I need a car for tomorrow - cheapo - one day rental, returning in the evening. Just to get me from the airport to the Medical Center faster than the bus/rail combo. All the major firms want $50-$95 for the economy class. Advantage rental car wants $16 a/i for a compact or economy, plus I can get 100 OP miles as well. The $16 may even be cheaper than a taxi (without the fuel)!!

I'll get to experience the glory that is an AA AT7 in midsummer as well . Booked one-way BahamasAir, back on AA (due to favorable scheduling by AA for the return).

This will be only my second AT7 flight. Caught one ZQN-CHC on NZ back in January. Have had a handful of ATR-42 flights, as well...all on Taca Regional.

Guaranteed cheaper than a Taxi. Go for it. Also, if it's a fuel-sipper, you may not need to refuel. ;)

Try Hotwire or Priceline if you can live without the 100 OP miles.

I dislike the ATR's.

Even better. I've never flown the ATR-72. Lots of ATR-42 flights back in the day on COEX out of IAH though — mostly to EFD, but also to/from LFT as well. And I picked up one on Election Day in November 2000 on DTW-CLE as well.
