Welcome, to tommy777. Please be sure to read the entire thread for all the useful information (there's bound to be some hidden somewhere in here, right?). :D

Shell NYC, did you have to spend 4 weeks in a row in LNK or separately? BUF is worse!

Separate thankfully, or I probably would have run under a bus or something. BUF in winter is bad, but YWG in Feb/March is worse! Luckily I'm getting to pick and choose my trips a little more now. ;)

And welcome tommmy777! I'm a recent US refugee and have found a new home here. :)

Seems we have quite a few US refugees lately. Wonder why? :D

US is going down like the titanic.

I thought we were nice to newcomers here in the Box. Suggesting that someone wade through the random crazy that is this thread searching for useful information is just plain mean. :p

He would receive some hot-dipped galvanized nuts as a parting gift, though. :D

Thanks! :). I called NW just now. They said it can take up to two weeks for the system to get updated to my new Platinum status

Living in Chicago and having a non stop/quickest way possible travel policy, I can't get rid of UA all together. But it has just added up the last year and felt like I needed something fresh. So I'm happy to hear what you are telling me here ! ^

Let me tell you about my 900 USD ORD-PDX-ORD last week: A319 on the return, 12C EE booked. 4 seats open in F the night before, F4 for sale. Got to the airport and gave the GA my Departure management card. She said, sorry F is full so I boarded. Guess what: 3 employees in F and an equ. change to an A320!! 4 more seats in F and the worst part: 12C is in the Economy section!!! I strolled off the plane back to the gate after observing seating area 2 and 3 pax in the bulkhead row with no status.....

I asked if she realized that I was in Economy, she said yes. I asked if she could please seat me in Economy Plus. She said no, no seats available except 7 middle seats... I asked why she had upgraded employees to F and non status to Economy Plus and if it was policy to leave 1Ks in Economy when upgrading these pax. She didn't apologize, she told me "Sir, I think it's best that you board now"...:(

And the best part. The BP of the punk in 11C EE with the middle seat open was visible in his seatpocket. Guess what: He had no status and on a T class ticket

I called 1KCall upon my return. They offered me a USD 100 travel voucher. After I said it was totally unacceptable, she could make a special one time exemption and op it to USD 200.

I respectfully declined the offer..

This episode put me over the top, but because I fly weekly to MSP and at least once a month to the other destinations mentioned above, the actual miles flown rule is the main reason because UA flights are usually good for 1Ks. I'm also very scared of what UA will think of next and don't feel like racking up more miles with MP (my wife and I are close to 2 million MP miles combined)

My tickets are as cheap as possible, except for international where I can fly C class.

Elite bonuses are probably next on the chopping block.

Be sure to start new threads on the quality of the food service. :D

Doubtful. I think UA's recent history of DEQM Bonus madness demonstrates that they realize keeping their increasingly disgruntled elites happy is the only way to keep the airline going. Pulling a US in that regard would likely be the straw that breaks the camel's back, sending UA into permanent nosedive.

Then again, this is UA management we're talking about. They're nothing, if not inconsistent.

How many times do I have to tell you, that your hot dipped galvanized nuts are not aircraft quality.

They are welcome on Air Uzbekistan.

I don't call you a snob, I call you a very sane person. I will fly WN if there is an emergency and WN is the only available method of transporation to get me there. So far, I haven't had to invoke it.

Last night's storms were interesting.

We were driving back from Baba Yega and were able to see an amazing lightning show. We pull up to my fiancee's apartment and there are firetrucks everywhere. I look up and there are flames shooting out of the top of the complex next to hers. Really sad... :(

The fire fighters were having trouble getting pressure on the lines, probably due to the recent construction in the area.

I think that UA likely will remain in operation because of the benefits it will receive from its capacity reductions and the upcoming failure of US. Once US is gone, maybe UA will improve even more.
