Spent the weekend in Houston for the BFF's wedding and the weather was lovely all weekend. It felt like N. Cali. :D

DH doesn't like to fly, but he likes the Elite benefits that we get with my status. With company budget cuts coming next year, last night he actually suggested that I go on mileage runs next year to keep it. I never thought that those words would come out of his mouth.

[QUOTE=Hartmann;10547781]Geez. I would send your letter to Customer Care and Scott (CO Insider). You should get the EQMs/RDMs but I don't know if they'll give you any kind of compensation depending on the ATC situation.

I'm not sure they'll spot you 18 points ;)QUOTE]

We would have been late regardless of the ATC delay because the pilot was late. Before the pilot showed up they came on board and announced that everyone will miss connections with the exception of AUS and BTR and CO will not provide a hotel as there are not any hotels available in Houston. Turns out they just wanted to nickle and dime a few people who got off becasue they didnt want to sleep in the airport because when we landed they had a guy standing with hotel vouchers and reassigned tickets.

Alright, what's going on with NW? I am trying to get a ticket overseas and the return has me going to ORD on KLM with a connection to IAH on UA. What gives? And this is on nwa.com.

I think she was pulling the I don't speak english trick on me and it might as well be a crime for cost of the one way ticket without an upgrade.

I think I was too tired to realize what was even going on .

On a plus note I will be spending a night at The ORD aloft tonight .

Yep. They appear to have given me your Q1 upgrade rate for Q4. I should call the OnePass Service Center. Apparently they have confused your OnePass number with mine. :p

Oh HELL no. If that had been me one of them would have been moving back, or they would have been trading with someone else. If they had to sit together, they should have reserved seats together in advance.

Since October 1 I've missed upgrades on:
  • IAH-ATL (First missed upgrade between those cities since October 2005)
  • IAH-ELP (First missed upgrade on that city pair ever)
  • IAH-CLE (Twice)
  • And in about an hour, EWR-IAH (No real surprise there)

And three of those have been in the last seven days.

I wont switch with people if they have the nerve to sit in my seat and just assume I will move. I will not take a middle seat in any either. At 6'6" I am most likely not going to give up my exit or bulkhead seat without a fight.

Just had my first Y experience on the AVOD 757 (I have flown it several times in BF but not in the new Y seats). The seats are more comfortable in some ways than the older ones, but the seat bottom cushions are just as bad as the old ones. I was numb before we left the gate, and it's been nearly two hours since I got off the plane and I can still feel the support bars from that seat. What gives? Why does CO continue to buy the most uncomfortable seat cushions made? Does someone on Smith Street have some kind of vendetta against Y passengers?

I had a lady on DL once ask me to give up my reclining aisle exit row seat on the two seat side of a MD-88 so that she could sit next to her friend, who was in the window seat next to me. This woman's seat was a middle seat in the next to last row on the three seat side, next to the engine where there's no window. I told her in a polite way that she had to be kidding, that I was not giving up my seat to sit back there. I suggested she ask either the aisle or window seat passengers next to her to trade with her friend. Her response was "But this row has the better seats." Eventually she must have taken my suggestion seriously because her friend went to the back and a very nice looking guy about my age came up to take the window seat next to me. He seemed thrilled to have the new seat and couldn't believe that the lady had tried to get me to trade and sit in her middle seat in the back.

Rule #1 of seat trade requests: Made sure the seat you're offering in the trade is at least as good, if not better, than the one the person you're asking to trade with already has. Rule #2: You can always tell the passenger making the request to take a hike if they can't obey Rule #1.

For me , it was tough to turn away a woman and her young kid.
It just sucks to be put in tha position. Either way you lose. You are either the bad guy who kept the kid away from her mom , or stuck in a middle seat.

I have no problem being the bad guy, when necessary. Most of the time, I am traveling with someone, So I am not going to move anyway.

I have in many cases switched if asked nicely and they are not already seated in my seat, but I will always want a window seat, and not sit near the stink shield.

When my traveling companion and I receive an upgraded into F, we are usually in 1A and 4F. I have given my traveling companion strict instructions to take their assigned seat and then wait for their seatmate to come by and then suggest a switch. I do the same. We do not ever assume that someone will be ok with a switch. I for example always want a window seat, while my traveling companion prefers the aisle. I think maybe twice we had to sit away from each other in F because no one wanted to move. Both times, the FA knew what was going on and offered to intervene, but I didn’t want to be a PITA, so I let it go. It was no big deal.

rolov, how's the aloft ORD? What property was it, or is it new construction?

I've spent way too much time traveling the past few days. Upgrades were few and far between, which made it that much worse.

I did, however, lose my Ritz Carlton virginity this weekend. :o
