I'm pretty sure I'll take that in one direction, and either NW or AF with a few connections on the return. But now ALCO has me wondering if I need to switch *A carriers... Oh, and ConciergeMike, I'm actually not a consultant. I just lucked out and ended up as a pretty senior member of a global project that happens to need a lot of face-time. I love to travel, especially on someone elses dime, but trust that I put in my time in lovely places like BUF in January, or LNK 4 wks in a row in the summer, over birthdays and holidays and weekends with no real comp time for the extra effort. It all evens out. |

The SQ 345 in the old config had windows in the bathroom
which were pretty cool. I took a picture out the window over the north pole. The new configuration does not , and they also got rid of the passenger lounge area. Shell NYC - If you take the SQ flight , go for the EWR-SIN segment , it is the longest commercial flight in the world , plus the return does not always go over the pole. |

Also, bear in mind that SQ C only earns 150% Base on BD (300% if you've already surpassed 55K EQM as a Gold). That's why I suggested EWR-FRA-SIN as an option (on LH, which would earn 200%-400%). If you don't want to mess around with LH C, you could route JFK-NRT-SIN on NH for full earnings, which is only 200mi. less (400 roundtrip) than EWR-FRA-SIN. |

You either know too much... or have too much time on your hands. I'm glad I work too much to worry about routings and maximizing my miles potential.;)
I do have more time at my disposal than usual at the moment. Usually I'm working full-time, and attending night-school. I'm taking a much-needed break this summer. |

I've bought in to the ALCO BD pushing pretty hard, and so far I've been reasonably happy with the results, especially free RCC access on domestic itineraries. Even though the RCC isn't all that great, they were able to help me immensely coming home from HKG when my LAX-JFK flight was canceled. Plus there is BD Gold for Life at 10 consecutive years, which is pretty generous. The problem is that most people are looking at BD and guessing that they are going to get bought out by LH in the near future, which would mean you're in M&M, where elite status is much harder to come by and the lifetime elite status isn't as easy (does it even exist??).
On a slightly different note, would any of you fly B6 more if they had a real F cabin and you could get upgrades? Being in NYC they are a reasonable option for some routes and I fly them every now and then. But the all-Y config is a tough sell when I'm batting 90%+ on upgrades to Florida. Putting aside their weak FF program, do you think adding F seats would be enough to make them a more compelling option? |

Yes, with all of that considered, if they added FC and joined *, we all would be less averse to using them. |

I wouldn't mind flying LH, but would do it on the return and give one of my other trips to SkyTeam. Flying the longest commercial flight (thanks rolov!), 18.5 hrs in SQ J is sounding like the winner for the outbound. EWR-SIN SQ 22 SIN-LHR SQ 318 or 322 (Both A380) Connecting to VS to EWR |

I guess I was asking because if the yields are there it seems like a reasonable idea, and getting more folks to consider them would help drive those yields. I was just doing a bit of very informal market research. |
