Funny you should mention that...there was a thread in UA-land a few months ago about that, and the title was priceless. It was something like "Are 1K's the Worst Gate Lice?" "Gate lice" - right there, ugh. The user is referring to another human being as lice. Come on now. There are certainly people on this planet that I dislike, and for good reason IMO. But any of the more common swear-esque words usually do it for me, and I've never felt the need to denigrate another person by going that low.

C'mon man tell us how you really feel? ;)

Well, found out there's more. My complimentary night at the Sheraton earned me 658 SPG points! :D I guess $329 is the rack rate there.

The term gate lice is definitely a UA FT term and with the new 15USD for the first checked bag on UA, there will be plenty more of them.

Some say that 1Ks are gate lice as well, there are definitely 1Ks hanging on the rope at the end of the red carpet with their BP in their shirt pocket displaying their status, even Global Services do) (you heard me Iluv2fly :D;)).

BUT since elites and F are the first to board, I guess it's ok that they are crowding the gate area waiting to board

The only time I hang around the red carpet or the elite line, is when I have a Travel Pro with me.. If not, I hang out in the lounge as long as possible and go to the gate when boarding is over with

Whoa, didn't want to bring a brouhaha to the box, but I get your meaning, ConciergeMike and agree with you. ^

Ha Ha , Im usually well behaved on a golf course , except the one time
I got mad at my driver because it was hooking left.
It had to be faulty equipment , so i tossed it left and then realized it went over a fence , which I had to climb over to retrieve my driver.
It worked fine the rest of the round
:D

Poppycock. I never understood the obsession with hovering. Even if I'm utilizing the overhead bins (which I often am these days. My life, 3 oz. at a time) I won't barge ahead or push people out of the way. And how many people, after F and Elites are called are still standing in their prime hovering real estate?

I think airlines should "guarantee" a set amount of space for every pax in the overhead. Divy it up, proportionally based on the class of service.

While I laugh at hoverers - I want to throttle pax in Y that put their bags in the first overhead they see open. Just because it's open. That's not how the system works. Common sense people. Common sense.

And, for what it's worth, since we're having a festivus style airing of the grievences, nothing kerfuffles me more than sitting in F and having a pax make a comment (usually to no one) about how they wish they had thousands of dollars to waste by flying in F on a short trip and dramatically rolling their eyes.

Hey, a**hat. Guess what - you paid more for your coach seat than I did. My life is just so nomadic that I never know where I'm going to be 48 hours in advance and therefore I can't do normal things - like enter watermelon carving contests.

And this is the airline's way of throwing me a bone. For saying thanks, thanks for spending more time in our seats than you do at home.

Everyone should just keep to themselves. I do. And I have wonderfully stimulating conversations. :o

The beeping continues. ahhhhhhhh.

I will never hire movers for a long distance move again. They are the scum of the universe.

In other news, NW has managed to find some really uncomfortable seats to put in F on their CR9s. I flew one for the first time last night on ATL-MEM and was not impressed. Leg room and seat width are fine, but the cushions are hard as a rock, and the seat back leans back at an odd angle, even when fully upright. It's also a rather short seat back. I drifted to sleep during the flight and woke up with lots of pain in my back and neck as a result of the seat. It made the ultra-crappy F seats in the DC-9s look downright comfortable.

And speaking of DC-9s, I got my first confirmed ride in a -40 last night. It was N751NW, a lovely 1968 model.

I also discovered that everything at MEM shuts down around 7:30-8:00 PM. At 6:00 the place was crowded. By 7:45 it was a ghost town. By 8:00 the World Club and nearly every food and retail establishment had closed up shop.

I'm much more a fan of the term "kerfuffle", another belynch addition to my vocabulary...that, and "Chia dent".

Sorry to hear, Steven. I'm sure there is a Box story there! :D

Nice. :D Good for you. What's next on the obscure airframe hit list?

I'm sorry, but that's a level of delusion that requires professional attention. Even if the math bears out his contention, the last thing I would do is attach my name to such a self-important and repugnant thought.

Such statements are routine in the MR and UA fora.

I am probably going to be flying the CR9 upfront this weekend. I was looking forward to it, but now it looks like a bad call.

Ah, the airing of grievances. Things that annoy me are peoples obsession with putting their seat back as soon as possible, sometimes even before push back. Does it really make the Y experience that much better? Seriously.

And I don't get the people that have to get up and use the lav as soon as the seat belt sign is off. This isn't an annoyance like the seat back thing, but just an observation I don't get because I'll go to the bathroom before boarding.

Well, brouhaha sounds like brew, which we all know is beer, and that's more box appropriate. :D
