In other news - it doesn't look like YUL is going to a continental.com special this weekend, so the visit to an aloft property may have to wait until next month. :( Now, I just need to figure out where else I can go this weekend...

I'm digging deep for some sort of a weekend trip here... Ottawa (135) or Toronto (Q400)? Both would be new routes and new a/c for me.

Toronto seems like it would be more fun (although I've never been to Ottawa). The ERJ-135 will be retiring next year from CO's fleet next year; the Q400 is obviously going to be around for a while. So it's a tossup.

Edited to add: On second thought, could you do both? Fly to one city, spend a day there, travel to the other city, spend a day there, and fly back?

Just booked NWA to HKG on a 747 - certainly feels like 1992 again. Or even earlier, like 1971. :D Well, at least now, it's 744 the whole way. :p

Surprisingly, 63A or K are available on 3 out of 4 legs, and plenty of other seat choices. For peak August travel. Interesting. So, no more 44A/L on CO 772, it's 63A/K on NW 744 these days for me!

Try AVL if you've never been. It is great this time of year up in the mountains and the area is full of nice things to see. Head up to sliding rock and ride the natural water slide 60' down the river, in between great hikes and beautiful panoramas in the Appalachians. I'm a big fan of that region, having gone to summer camp there for a few years, though it may not be a new route line or plane type. YYZ is OK, too, though not a ton to see or do there, IMO.

Ottawa was nice, I was there once in the spring and the market was going on , you could walk around the pedestrian areas.
Also they have some old canal locks ( I believe they still work), which were really cool to walk all the way down to the river.

Half of my mother's family live in Ottawa and Toronto. They're close enough to one another that you can take the train between the two cities or drive a few hours. Toronto is more fun, but Ottawa is nice as well. They've got their own version of changing of the guard if you're into touristy things.

Im usually not interested in the HR derby , but I happen to be watching it
and Josh Hamilton is putting on a show
23 HRs in round 1 and still at bat.

Quick question for the box: Which seat is it that FAMs prefer?

Just wrapped up with 28. He basically doesn't have to bat in the second round and he will still advance. The 28 was a record for the first round and puts him in 2nd plance overall for all time. Not too shabby.

Yeah I saw it, it was insane. I hope his pitcher is icing down his arm for the final. He is 71 and threw a lot of pitches.

UA closing 4 RCCs; will CO follow?

Sad for the UA folks to see 4 of their lounges shutting down. Even stranger is how many of the folks posting in the thread (the esteemed and occasional Penalty Box visitor J.Edward included) how much they are/were hoping to use CO benefits to get in to the RCCs. I'm surprised how few people understand that the deal seems to be a very long way off.

And to answer the question, no. CO is opening new lounges instead. :D ^^

Premium issue strikes again

BOG - NYC in October, in Y, all-in fares:

Continental Airlines (EWR): $800
Spirit Airlines (JFK): $450

Yes, CO has a nonstop; but for nearly twice the fare?

Anyone know the Heimlich? The guy hit a LOT of home runs, but not enough when it mattered at the end.
