Edited to add: On second thought, could you do both? Fly to one city, spend a day there, travel to the other city, spend a day there, and fly back?

I think I am leaning towards Ottawa as it would give me a chance to cross the 135 off of my list. Ottawa is also a pretty short drive to Montreal (which is where I wanted to go this weekend but it's not a special) so I could always go there for a day if Ottawa gets old quickly.

Unfortunately, I don't think it would be possible to do Toronto and Ottawa as I believe the continental.com specials are for round trip fares only.

Usually 2B and 3E. Always aisles.

Congrats on the move and new job opportunity rkkwan!

Taking the first morning flight out always seems like a good idea (get a full day of work in with an extra night in your own bed...) until you are setting you alarm for some ungodly hour...ugh...
And to make it worse, CO recently changed their first EWR-RDU flight from 6:15ish to 5:59a. I know it's only 16 minutes, but 1)it's a mental barrier to have a flight before 6am and 2)16 minutes can really make a difference in the morning!!

I feel your pain there. This morning I was faced with booking a 6:04 AM return flight in a few weeks, that would get me back home around 3:00 PM, or a 10:45 AM flight that would get me home around 7:30 PM. I ended up chosing the later flight. But still, neither option was all that great, as I'm used to getting home either late Thursday night or by noon on Friday. This time I'll be getting home Friday night.

2 FAMs on 735 were sitting on 1B and 2E.
1 FAM on 73G was sitting on 1E. (I didn't see other since I was sitting on row 1 too.)

Now in Houston

I left PHL on Sunday around 2pm. Got into Houston around 7pm local time. Slept in the moving truck for 3+ hours at the Georgia/Alabama state line. Hated the traffic in and around Delaware, Baltimore, DC, Birmingham, and Lake Charles, LA. Yes, there was bad traffic there, since they like to work on the roadway during rush hour in Lake Charles. Going to try and empty the moving truck tomorrow in this heat. Yuck. My only "incident" was running over and killing a turtle (saw that creature go to bits in my rear view mirror). :( On I-59, poor little thing was attempting to cross it. If I didn't kill it, someone else would have. I tried to avoid it, but the moving truck has all the "moves" as a sloth (the driver has better reflexes :p) would.

Yes. Domestically, FAMs will almost always occupy the 2nd and 3rd rows of the first class cabin, sitting diagonally across from each other. In a 2 row cabin, they will sit in rows 1 and 2 as described.

On wide-body aircraft, they will sit diagonally across from each other on the side of the aircraft with the cockpit entrance (usually port).

There are also, usually, "deadheading" FAMs in the rear. Although, this is more common on international flights. They're the ones everyone always forgets about.

In other news, I had Peruvian corn for supper tonight*.

*feel free to make your own poop jokes.

Congratulations rkkwan! ^

We'll definitely need an LAX DO for some good 'ole planespotting and catching up.

They always seem to be working on I-10 in Lake Charles.

Last time I was there it was mostly complete but there is still a lot of work going on in Orange.

That just sounds like pure hell to me.

+1 coming from someone who will rarely even drive the 3 hours from my home to DC. I hate long car (or, in this case truck) drives.

There are a few exceptions. I'd like to drive a decent amount of Route 66 some day, a drive across the upper midwest to Seattle seems like it would be nice and finally I still need to do the drive from South Florida to Key West (in a convertible of course).

We used to do Houston to Podunk, Indiana once or twice a year... Saw some cool things on the way but that was a long drive.

Any drive involving Indiana is a long one. :) I went to college in Michigan so I know the "excitement" of the area well.

Highly recommended. It'll take a few hours, especially if there is traffic anywhere along the road (pretty much 2 lanes, one in each direction the whole way, so traffic can get nasty), but it is a great drive. Mrs. sbm12 keeps telling me about her ITH-PDX drive back in college and how nice the northern route was across the country, even with the long hauls of nothingness across some of the areas. Apparently we're due to repeat it (or portions thereof) at some point, though I'm not sure exactly when.
