Simply awesome - love that zebra pattern. I might have to work one of those into my upcoming SE Asia trip.

The zebra seats, the freaky carpet, the thumbs-up guy...this is getting nuttier than squirrel droppings.

Canuck darkens with the best of them. I think after 20 or so years of living in the igloo wearing walrus blubber, her body soaks up the sun. It's almost scary.

By the way, CM, in looking at the stadium map for the Lincoln Financial Field, if I sit in the USAirways corner, do drinks cost $2 extra?:rolleyes::rolleyes:

IIRC, the 747-100 shown is now operated by Orient Thai's LCC offshoot, "One-Two-Go Airlines." The shadier spawn of an already shady parent company, operating vintage 747-100SRs, first delivered to JL in 1973. Oh yeah, they're also operating a reduced schedule at the moment, because the Thai government cracked down on them in the aftermath of a recent fiery crash at HKT that killed a bunch of pax.

I think I'll save that portion of the airline's history until after the Significant Otter and I safely deplane from our flight (assuming such happens).

That is odd. My mother tans, but I burn. I only get something resembling a tan by lathering on SPF 30-60.

I didn't know One Two Go was still in operation. I thought the Thai government (they have one?) ended it.

When I was futzing around Thailand a couple years ago I was on an ex-MetroJet (forget who the carrier was, although it was probably Orient Thai) 73-2. I've seen an 747-100 (and I believe an SP too) at BKK.

AFAIK, they have been "temporarily suspended." Whether that translates into a permanent grounding remains to be seen. I'm going on Wikipedia info, here, so who knows how reliable any of it is. With any luck, they'll have their buckets of bolts back in the air in time for the Honeymoon.

Sweet. I can add Orient Thai to my list of shady carriers on the trip. That list currently includes Gardua, whose application to re-enter European operations recently was denied (again) by the EU due to safety concerns; and Air Asia, a somewhat less sketchy Malaysian LCC.

VERY funny, sir. Actually, the USAirways corner is where the fans react to the play without any delay whatsoever, because it's the most on-time airline in the country. But don't use the coat check there - your stuff will end up in Pittsburgh.

If you or ALCO needs a friend to be a life insurance beneficiary, I'm happy to do that.

Having been down an evacuation slide (during an actual evacuation) once in my life was enough.

I would imagine that Orient Thai and Garuda are tame when compared to the flying to be had in the 'Stans on such storied carriers as SCAT Air.

Garuda is not that bad and is the best option for getting around Indonesia. My brother is Garuda Gold, in fact, which entitles him to Garuda Executive Lounge access and some bonus miles.

I hear Orient Thai's Elite Tier gets you a 20% discount with a local mortician.
