That was an additional refund due to an amendment made to my '06 return. I haven't gotten squat from my '07 return, which, for all practical purposes, doesn't exist.

Almost lunch time! I may have to get a Whataburger fix today. I've been seeing adds for that patty melt on TV the last few nights and after ALCO's review, it's very tempting.

I was in Houston two weeks ago and a buddy of mine got the patty melt; he said it was pretty good, if you like that sort of thing. Alas, there is no Whataburger within 200 miles of me, but I will go enjoy some BBQ at a local place where the owners are actually from Texas, complete with Shiner on tap.

I forgot to mention this but reading/thinking about coffee in this thread made me remember.

Last time I was in the E PC (7/26), the espresso/latte/mocha machine was gone. I didn't see that mentioned anywhere on FT.

Absolutely. Last time I was there, there was a chocolate shop that made adult bits out of chocolate. I made the mistake of telling my friends back stateside and ended up with a large order.

I'm with you. I miss DD when i'm on the west coast, but the good thing is I can avoid the crap that is Starbucks in favor of Peets.

So I'm finally back from DUB which was awesome, for those of you who haven't been. On the way out, I managed to score 1A and 1B. :) Good for me, but bad for CO.

Weird thing, they make you preclear passport control in Dublin. So when we got to EWR, we got sent straight to baggage claim and avoided the passport control in EWR. The only time i've seen something similar is coming back from Canada, but then we didn't even need to go through customs and were dropped in the domestic terminal.

You avoided passport control but still used Terminal B?

They use a 'sure shot' machine at DD to measure out the fixins like that, so at least it's consistent. Now, if the amount of half and half it sends out for a medium is too much/too little, then you're screwed. I know a large with half and half and 2 Splenda is just right.

Luckily there is also a small coffee shop on the walk to the office that makes me "long" double shots of espresso (espresso plus hot water to extend the pleasure of drinking it).

Isn't that just an Americano?

That's why you should always send your tax return certified with return receipt.

I did (I think). At least, I asked the mail clerk in the office to send it certified. I seem to recall receiving the green card receipt months ago...but Goodness knows where it is now. Oh well, am re-mailing it Certified as soon as my accountant sends me a fresh copy of my 1040.

One version, not the fun one. Actually, you are talking of a cafe americano. I once went to a high-end resturant and asked for a pre-dinner americano (campari, vermouth, soda). Boy, was I surprised when the server arrived with coffee service.

As a campari and soda fan, I will have to try the "fun" version of an americano sometime soon.

Actually in terminal C. It was weird, get off the plane, go upstairs and go into passport control, but before queuing, the folks from our flight were being directed down a side aisle that just went straight to the escalators downstairs to baggage claim. Apparently they do this for 23 (the first flight from DUB) and the SNN flight, but not the second flight from DUB.

At DUB, in the ground floor of the pier, there is a US Passport control center, so everyone has to go downstairs, clear passport control for US bound flights, but only until a certain time. They told me they don't have enough capacity to do this during peak time. *shrug*

Why not use electronic filing next time?

They charge extra for it, for reasons I cannot understand at all. Drives me nuts.

I love this part of the DUB/SNN arrivals. Supposedly the US is going to be putting Customs over there shortly as well, meaning you'll arrive straight in to the terminal rather than having to deal with Customs and then re-clearing TSA, just like coming in from most cities Canada.

Good question. I'll take that up with my Accountant.
