And Reply #9000, as well.

Is anyone in SFO and taking a picture of the EK A380? It's headed to LAX at 10am CST.

TS Edouard

I hear Eddie is rather weak. Any reports from our resident IAHers hunkering down for the morning? I haven't talked to my fiance yet, as she has the day off from work because of the storm. I don't think she's blown away... yet.

We had some blown down tree limbs (nothing huge) and a couple of heavy rain bands come through earlier but it seems to be just another thunderstorm. This is from the north side of downtown (5 miles).

It's not a very bad storm. I've seen Cold Fronts that were worse.

Nope, sorry. It was featured prominently on the local news last night.

If it bleeds, it leads. "The end is nigh" weather reporting whenever something blows in off the Gulf is a bit tiring.

Granted, this miniscule storm didn't stop a majority of Houstonians from cowering under their beds in a puddle of urine this morning...

For a city that gets a lot of severe thunderstorms, I am very surprised to hear some of what is going on down there. Offices closing? 75% of drivers staying home? A little overkill for a TS, no? ;)

EDIT: Post 1500 for me. :)

Let's put this way, from someone who lives inside the Loop and works in the Galleria area:

Traffic is probably only 25% of what it normally is.

My office, which did not close, only has about 7 people on my floor (usually have around 35), and from when I arrived at 7:10 until 8:03, I was the only person here.

However, I did get to discover this morning that my windshield wipers are no longer working properly---they either go super-fast or not at all, and I can't control which speed I get. :(

Well said.

There are five of us in the office today and we're out west past the Beltway. I live in the Heights and got on 10 this morning and was amazed, I could do 65 mph with no problem!

Also, I-10 eastbound from just inside the Beltway into downtown is almost completely open. The only lanes left are the HOT/HOV ones.

Just imagine being buzzed by an A380 while sitting in the park across from In-N-Out at LAX.

There are some YouTube videos out there from the first time it landed at LAX - looks incredible from that location.

The office where my dad works closed today, but the streets tend to flood around there and the lights always go out at the underpass.

Most summers that would be true. It seems that this summer, it takes a Tropical Storm or Hurricane to get any rain to fall.

My itinerary reserved for IAH-PHL is

9/5 - CO276
Depart: 12:50pm
Arrive: 5:14pm

9/7 - CO1077
Depart: 5:39pm
Arrive: 8:18pm

This is all tentative as I get the work details figured out. I may have to take a slightly later flight on 9/5.

All times are GMT -6. The time now is 2:29 pm.
