This happens to me almost every time that I violate my long-held airplane food rule of "always take the chicken."

It may be dried out, it may be buried in some unrecognizable glop, but it is seldom so bad that you cannot at all eat it. So, if I am hungry on an airplane (and I try not to be), I "always take the chicken."

Sounds like you picked a good one Hartmann! Please tell her I said thank you for the idea... :D

ALCO, Hartman, and CM,
I think I found a way for yall to bring Flyer Talk to your wedding. In the Houston Chronicle today they showed a couple getting married on top of BiPLanes in Full Gown and Tux. Just a thought?

I can see it now - the color palette of my wedding would be ecru, brown, green, yellow...perfect vomit tones.

This is a great idea since the others/otters don't (for the most part) get the geekery. It's like couples where the guys play golf and the women shop or go to the spa.

My fiance just smiles and pats my head when I wax poetic about various types of aircraft I see when we're near an airport. She says it's, "cute." I don't know about that, but I do know that she appreciates my ability to find the best seats on whatever ship we're on. :D

This is pretty much the boat I'm in too. Right when my girl and I met, she had to fly for work. She had no knowledge of the existence of exit rows at that time. I told her and she had a more relaxing flight home as a result. I would like to think that it's part of the reason she loves me so much. Now, she has learned to let me handle all the travel arrangements. She has a say on timing and pricing, but overall it's my job to get us there and back.

The Significant Otter definitely doesn't get the more nuanced* aspects of FT.

I'm way beyond cute and on to the "whatever you say, but I'm not really listening to you at all" stage. I'd blame it on the difference between engaged and married, but I'm pretty sure it is more that she just doesn't care.

Did you receive any hearty  regarding riding around on vintage Soviet rustbuckets in Central Asia?

Mine tells me that she thinks there's no difference between the two...I'm too cynical to believe her.

The recent  I received w/r/t 'Stans + Tehran has affirmed my belief that it will be necessary to include a decrepit Orient Thai Airlines 747-100/200/300 in our Honeymoon plans. Just have a look at their vintage 1970's biz class seats. :D

I'm not even engaged to my blonder half and I get a healthy dose of  on a daily basis.

Of course, I'd be in perpetual  mode if I was dating me too. I have the humor of a 12 year old. At the neurology lecture I attended the other night whenever they talked about "patients having a stroke" I'd giggle uncontrollably.

:o

And I want to be a latex salesman.

Surprisingly, no. She wants to come along on the trip. She doesn't care about the planes really, but she's excited to go to the region and see the countries over there. So as long as we actually do a side tour here or there in the countries she'll actually be happy about it.

I just sent my fiance my itinerary for the LGA-LAX MR in October and got a reply of:

You know I wanted to go to LA, why are you going when I cant go (shes in LBB). How long are you going to be there? Can you fly me up for the weekend?

My reply:

I will probably have lunch at the In-n-Out Burger by the airport if there is time but I need to be back in NYC that night.

Her reply:

I can't use the "blonder half" reference - we're both rather blond. Our kids will incinerate upon contact with sunlight.

I do get a pretty good dose of  when discussing travel. Her preferred method of  delivery is "You're such a geek/goofball/weirdo."

Yeah, I am.
