Thanks re the pix; it really was a beautiful day and they were a ton of fun to hang out with even just for the hour.

As for the bad juju, there was a LOT of sniping back and forth about the fact that the couple was planning on having a wedding without lots of family and friends around. Basically some folks thought that such an activity was an abomination and others thought that the wedding was between the couple getting married and that the nay-sayers should shut up. You can see how that would degenerate quickly.

My opinion on the topic comes from my background, which says that a marriage is a community event. And being a member of the community (both FT and NYC) I was really excited to participate. Plus, weddings are fun. I had a great time.

Great pics of the wedding! Did you get paid for those? I didn't read the thread, but is that on the Brooklyn Bridge?

No compensation for me. My actual role there was as the witness for the event. I signed the license along with her mother who also attended. The photography bit is just something I love doing. I was working three cameras during the ceremony with only two hands.

And yes, it is on the Brooklyn Bridge. We were under the Manhattan-side tower in the shade.

Not sure of the exact dates yet - probably the week of the 21st or 28th. Will be in ATL the week of the 14th.

I, too, travel to Loserania on a regular basis. Somehow, I managed to get engaged to one of the locals (with all her teeth, no less!). BTR is only an hour drive from the debauched environs of New Orleans, where 60oz buckets of 190 Antifreeze Grain-Alcohol Daiquiris await. Oh, the colors you'll see... as they spew from thee.

I sense a Fear & Loathing on FlyerTalk DO.

Also, it takes 38 minutes to get RTW paper-tix re-issued at IAH Terminal E. The agent who helped me was awesome. She didn't have a clue what she was doing, but called the Helpline, and was very nice throughout the process. The absolute witch at Terminal C that shouted at me "We Don't do International, This is DOMESTIC!" and gave me a dismissive shooing gesture with her hands... well, she can go rot for all I care. The nice lady over at Terminal E (whose full name I saw on her badge), will be receiving a nice send-up via 1-800-WE-(Don't)CARE, as well as a letter to CO praising her service. I didn't bother to get the name of the Wicked Witch of Terminal C. I can only hope she is amongst the chaff that gets scythed in any future downsizing.

Also, Charlie in C South PC still makes a fantastic Whisky Sour. He even made a joking offer to come to the wedding with Tripp, disguised as Rob & Big :D

I really think I can get them to serve me five rum n cokes on IAH-MSY. Today, I break the 4-drink barrier on a 300mi flight. Poor Significant Otter... she hardly suspects what awaits.

Only if you promise to respond describing in detail the incredible benefits that you receive as a member thanks to you C-level title in PBC, LLC.

BTW, are you including pre-departure drink in your tally or only airborne drinks?

My fam is near BTR...maybe a mini-do? Always looking for something, anything to do while I'm there!

Spent a few hours at a rooftop UWS bar watching LGA arrivals (oh, and drinking happy hour margaritas ^^) Definitely a possible Micro-Do location! Took the gang back to my place for Rock Band and cocktails..EXCELLENT evening :D

This may have to become a weekly event. :)

I had such high hopes for the article after reading the headline.

Alas, it was a slight disappointment (but still worth a click).

What are your dates? If I'm available I will most certainly try to at least get a drink...maybe some NYC and/or DC Box Denizens will take a train down or up as the case may be to say hi.

Back in NY week of the 11th. Theater on the 14th, probably off to work or Fla on the weekend. Keep me posted. ^

Uhm. Well, I have a valid reason for being a dork and being on FT at 1142pm (EST) on a Friday night (working).

What's everyone else's excuse?

monitor Jul 25, 2008 10:01 pm

I also have a valid reason. We have polished off four bottles of Willamette Valley Pinot Noir ^ between four of us since getting out of the movies at about 8PM and came up for air about half an hour ago. I can certainly hesitate to recommend Mamma Mia unless one is particularly fond of saccharine. :td:
