Clearly the EWR based flyers are slacking. At least i'll be adding PHX-EWR on Friday, assuming I can get there.

I should (cross fingers) be adding a PB EWR flight tomorrow

It is further complicated by the fact that I am not familiar enough with Hilton Hotels to know which Category at SPG best maps to an HHonors Cat 6. Generally, SPG has nicer properties. So, if it takes 80,000 points to stay two nights at a Hilton Cat 6, is that equivalent to two nights at an SPG Cat 4 (20K), or Cat 5 (24K-32K), or Cat 6 (Doubtful, but 40K low-season nonetheless).

I would speculate that most Category 6 HHonors properties are going to be equivalent to at least Category 5 at Starwood. Category 6 HHonors hotels are usually the top tier hotels in major cities. There are always exceptions, but in general my experience has been that a Category 6 Hilton is as nice as the Category 5 (and sometimes Category 6) SPG hotels I've stayed in.

HHonors has been my back-up program for two years now, and will likely remain so, as it usually has properties in a locale when SPG does not. I will probably slowly continue to grow the balance over time, and the 500 BA Miles Double-Dip never hurts.

You don't double dip to BD, at 1,000 miles per night (up to three nights/stay)?

Detroit is similar. We once were looking at real estate listings in Detroit and found we could afford to pay cash for three adjacent houses just with what was in our checking accounts that day.

The taxes are probably more than the property. You could probably ask for a reassessment, but what would you do with the property? FWIW, I read somewhere of a property in Detroit that was listed for and that went for $1.

I'm so bummed, i realized the whole HH/BD thing after I did all my Hilton stays last year. Missed out on a bunch of BD points. Based on the Q1 promo for Starwood, I forsee the majority of my Q1 stays at Starwood. :)

I know. It took me until last May to realize it. I probably lost out on close to 100,000 BD miles from Hilton alone since 2005 because of that.

How many BD miles is one supposed to get from Homewood Suites properties? I stayed four nights but only got 3k BD points. Is this correct? How many do we earn at Hampton?

here's a thread title from CC,

H: 1 CR1 W: 1x SWU for tomorrow,

Hope springs eternal, but this guy is just downright optimistic.

It's 1,000 BD Miles per night, up to three nights per stay at all Hilton HHonors brands. There's no reduction in mileage earnings for Homewood and Hampton properties like there is with most other airline programs.

As a result of the 3,000 BD mile maximum per stay, I rarely book Hilton stays for over three nights now. On four night trips, I try to make the first or last night at different hotel to maximize the BD miles, and the HHonors points as well, since the car rental and My Way bonus miles are on a per stay basis.

No. It's silly, but I'm desperately trying to bolster my BA balance. I was earning enough on BD by flying Q-UPs, and most of my Hilton stays are only one-nighters (so only a 500mi difference). I'm working the BA balance up towards my goal: 2x J Tix JFK-SCL-IPC on LA. It's only 80K per ticket with BA. I'm 1/4 of the way there so far. I plan to make up the balance by flying AA Q-UPs, and by SPG Points Transfers to BA.

I have received authorization from the Significant Otter to book both of us on a crazy LAX-EWR-PTY run with red-eyes on the outbound.

She loves me. She really loves me. :D

Sadly, my first flight booked is to the DO :( You can't imagine how sad that makes me.

I have EQMs again! No more 0's staring at me every time I go to CO.com.

And I've just about figured out how to maximize my Hilton, Starwood, and Marriott points over the next few months to maximize each brand's promotional offers and stay in the nicest hotel in each location I'm going for work. However I still need to find one Starwood night so that I can snag another 5,000 point 10th night bonus.
